They reached Taeil's small house in the suburbs after nightfall and Taeil's sister let them in as her parents were as usually working on night shifts, Taeil's father causing people to get a wish to run with, his crazy driving style when he got them through the city in his taxi.
The house was always quiet and Jae felt a wince inside him when he realized how much he missed living here, it felt like home.
They crossed the narrow staircase and walked into Taeil's room to find the boy writing something at the desk and humming to himself quietly.
"Oh, songwriting time, we'll wait downstairs," muttered Doyoung closing the door immediately.
But they sat on the carpet of the hall next to Taeil's door and waited both trying to listen out for pieces of the song. Taeil was their favorite vocalist and they could never get enough of his angelic voice.
"It's too quiet," whispered Doyoung pressing his ear to the door.
"Let him," whispered Jae.
He knew Taeil must feel terrible. He was a good person and Jae blamed Lauren who used Taeil's feelings to her to make him cheat on Minju.
Half an hour later Taeil opened the door and invited them to his room. Jae jumped on the bed he was sleeping at for months and glanced at his friend.
Taeil looked like if he hasn't combed his hair or showered or changed clothes for at least two days.
His used sweatpants and washed out shirt made the sight even more miserable.
"Taeil, hi how are you?" Doyoung ran to him and hugged him.
"Oh Doyoung why are you here, your dream," said Taeil.
"Oh this thing... can wait," said Doyoung. "Tell me about you, that's the burning problem right now," Doyoung sat on the floor and Taeil fell back on the only chair in the room.
"I'm so disgusted wih myself, you two should be disgusted with me too," he said.
"Oh come on everyone makes mistakes," said Doyoung.
"Mistakes, I cheated on my girlfriend, I slept with Lauren while she had a boyfriend," said Taeil.
"No she didn't, she bfoke up with Yuta a few days befofe," said Jae and Taeil breathed in sharply.
"Still she was right after a break up, but ok... I wasn't single. Ok," he looked at them.
"Have you tried to talk to Minju?" asked Doyoung.
"There's no use, what should I tell her, I ran out of words," Taeil started to pull the edge of his sleeve.
"Do you want her back?" asked Doyoung and Taeil sent his a hateful glance.
"You can't ask me things like..." he started.
"Why, she's not here you can be open with us. It's a difference if you cheated and want her back, or cheated and want Lauren."
Taeil shivered. He was biting his sweater so eagerly that some threads started to come out.
"Taeil," said Doyoung and Jae felt he knew the answer.
"I'm a bad person," whispered Taeil. "Minju is amazing but... she never made me feel the way Lauren does. And now I had a chance and... My mind was somewhere else I just wanted her. You know how hard it is, the whole world disappears from my head when Lauren is around," Taeil's eyes became dreamy. "And she's so beautiful and her smell makes me dizzy and..." he lowered his head. "The worst thing is I enjoyed it so much, it was the best sex in my life."
Doyoung took a loud breath and Jae shivered. From the three times he had done it with Taeyong the first was awful, then kind of nice, and even better, but he still waited for the spark, for the experience Taeil was talking about as so far he was rather a little disappointed more then turned on afterwards.
"So try to go to Lauren and ask her out, she's single you're single," said Doyoung and Taeil looked up.
"No I'll make a fool of myself. She only did it to make Yuta jealous," said Taeil.
"Liestn to me, she always calls you handsome and admires your voice, and she chose you not Hansol or Johnny or anyone eles, but you to make Yuta jealous," said Doyoung jumping up and raising his voice, and Jae hoped he and Taeil won't argue again.
"I don't know," Taeil shook his head. "I should get a punishment and not the girl of my dreams, the world shouldn't work this way," he stuttered.
"Yes you're punishing yourself enough right now," groaned Doyoung. "It's worth a try."
Tael took a deeper breath.
"I'll think about it," he muttered.
Doyoung glanced at Jae begging for help but there was nothing Jae could or wished to say.
Taeil came back to university the next day, he moved back to Jae's room but he was still very quiet and moved down the corridors in a slow way avoiding everyone. A week passed without anything dramatic and Jae was quite happy about it. He did the essay for Kun as he had no heart o tell Taeil about the photos and he and Doyoung shared Kun's work secretly. Jae had a little acoustic concert by the end of the week and he was happy that all his friends including Sicheng came to watch his performance. The little club was sold out and Mr. Jacksonville told Jae soon they will move on to bigger stages and he can start to prepare for the first mini tour. Before Jee could blink there were only five days till Taeyong's return left and he became very excited and unfocused.
The next day he was walking to the main building through a shortcut from the library with Taeil who had borrowed so many books that Jae needed to help him to carry them.
A group of giggling girls past them and Jae saw Laurns long hair flying in the wind. She was her old self again, dressed in a pretty pink skirt and high heels, she waved to him and he nodded because he had no way to wave back as his hands were busy.
The girls walked slower and soon they were just a little in front of them.
"Is it the guy who's so great in bed?" asked a girl with blonde curls turning around and glancing at Taeil.
