...
The news was like a fire and Jae guessed Sicheng had called everyone possible and impossible telling them what happened. Mark's parents called, Donghyuck's parents called, Taeil came to visit with Doyoung at 3 a.m. and Jae was answering the same question again and again that he has no idea who had sent the money. He waited for the morning when he and Sicheng visited the bank before breakfast to find out the check was indeed real and the money was on their account. Sicheng made the transfers they needed and Mark invited everyone to his house for a celebration later today. The atmosphere was great and relaxed but Jae couldn't enjoy the happiness. He had read the check up and down hundreds of times trying to get a hint that will lead him to the person, and he was even more frustrated when Sicheng had told him he had called his father and his father had no idea about the whole thing. So the only person Jae had suspected was out of the list.
It was evening way to early and Jae was sitting on the wooden terrace stairs in the backyard of Mark's house while Mark's brother and father made a grill and the boys were celebrating loud. Donghyuck and Doyoung were shouting a lot but Ten seemed somehow subdued, he never laughed about jokes and avoided conversations, he also came alone, but Jae was too tired to ask what had happened. Sicheng was talking with Mark while they made themselves comfortable on a Hollywood swing next to the fence and soon Taeil came to Jae carrying a paper plate with grilled pork and salad.
"Don't starve, you look pale," Taeil sat next to Jae nudging him a little.
"Thanks," muttered the boy who wasn't in a mood for eating so he was chewing the pork without really being into it. "How's Laufen?" he asked and Taeil blushed.
"She writes everyday, we skype each evening or morning. I miss her a lot, but summer break will start soon so before the next promotion I'll go to London to visit," he smiled to his thoughts.
"Nice," Jae tried to be happy but he immediately remembered Taeyong's salty skin in the yellow light of the small hotel room and he shivered.
"It wasn't Sicheng's fathef," said Jae quietly. "The donof."
To Jae's surprise Taeil laughed.
"Come on you know who had sent the money," he said.
"What! How should I know!" Jae raised his voice. "If you know please enlighten me," he got mad again.
"Oh it's obvious," said Taeil. "He had heard about your problem the night Lauren left and he gave you the sum you needed."
Jae blushed, he crumbled the paper plate and all the pork fell on the lawn.
"No, I fefuse to believe," he said angrily. "No."
"Who else is crazy and rich enough to do it," said Taeil with this warm smile still on his face.
Jae swallowed he wanted to run, to kick the grill over. No Taeyong couldn't he simply couldn't, but Taeil was right there was no one else who could have saved Jae.
He got up and inhaled sharply, he walked to the front door leaving the party, his head buzzing. He knew Taeyong wants him back but this was way too much, the trip, half a million to rescue his company. No one could do it, no one sane, only someone insane from love.
To Jae's horror Sicheng agreed with Taeil's version and so did Doyoung. They wanted Jae to ask Taeyong about it, to talk to him but Jae decided to never see Taeyong again, so he overworked himself in the practice rooms and studio for hours and finished all the new singles with Donghyuck and Mark. The album was selling amazingly so they nearly got the money they had invested back after two weeks. Sicheng was so happy, but Jae couldn't get better. Once Mark came to him while he was recording a song he had written and wanted to release in some time.
"Can I be honest man?" asked Mark when Jae finished and they met on the other side of the studio glass.
"Sufe," said Jae.
"The melody is pretty but the lyrics sucks man," Mark tapped his shoulder Jae lowered his head, he knew he's probably one of the worst songwriters ever but he was too embarrassed to ask little Mark to write a song for him.
So after this conversation he gave the song in and had more time to learn to the exams. They came closer and Taeyong called him asking if they can train the routine but Jae moved it further and further away each day. He had to see Taeyong in lectures but each time he went into a room where the boy was he left it immediately and hid in his apartment and his room. Taeil and Doyoung begged him to act normal, but Jae wasn't listening.
The last two week of lessons brought another rough and sad event. Jae was revising with Doyoung on a bench in one of the alleys when Ten ran to them, he was vey red and seemed torn.
"Ten what's up?" Doyoung jumped up.
"I broke up with Rachel," announced the boy.
"Why?" Doyoung nearly dropped his books.
"She... she's dealing drugs in the university," said Ten "I... I found out and I'm so disappointed, I don't want to have anything in common with a person like that," he said.
"Oh Ten," Doyoung went pale. "Ten sit here and relax, you did the right thing, Jae take care of him," Doyoung pushed Ten on the bench next to his books.
"What afe you doing?" asked a stunned Jae.
"Just take care of him," Doyoung ran out of the alley leaving them so shocked even Ten forgot about his heartbreak for a moment.
