He knew something bad was happening to his friend but this was way too much.
"We couldn't get out of the dorm and no one could get in besides the girls they hired if the boys liked, we only had a trip to the shop once a week to buy necessary stuff and we needed to pay for our own food and everything. I used this trip to escape," Doyoung became all sad.
Jae moved from his bed and walked to his friend, he didn't know what to say so he laid his hand on Doyoung's shoulder.
"Please don't tell the others, I'll be too ashamed," Doyoung went red.
"Of coufse not, it's ok," Jae caressed his arm.
He knew it took a lot of trust for Doyoung to tell him this but they were friends for life and nothing could change that. Or nearly nothing as Jae had realized with Taeil months ago. Actually he missed Taeil in their crew, it was always the three of them and now they were just the two of them left.
"Do you, speak to Taeil?" asked Jae suddenly.
"Of course I speak to Taeil, he wouldn't stand it if I didn't. But don't be mad at me he needs someone," Doyoung got scared.
"I'm not, I'm glad he has you," Jae sat on the foor next to his friend.
The door in the corridor banged and they heard loud giggles.
"Cutie pie I'll lick you up and down," Yuta had a sweet tone and Sicheng laughed louder.
"Bedroom?" he said in a sexy tone.
"Babe you're too young and too cute for it," Yuta spoke and they heard that something banged on the floor.
"Cuddle?" asked Sicheng and Jae and Doyoung exchanged looks.
"That's better," they heard the sound of kissing and the door to Sicheng's bedroom banged shut.
"So, this two afe happy, at least," muttered Jae.
"You should think about the Midterm ball, it's at the end of January, will you go alone?" asked Doyoung.
"I can go with you," said Jae.
"I'm not going, you know I don't like events like this," Doyoung shook his head.
"I have two weeks to decide," muttered Jae.
"Maybe he will ask you?" Doyoung smiled.
"Then I'll say no," Jae crossed his arms.
One week passed and Jae was in a huge stadium for the National Music Awards. He had a place right next to Miss Berry and Mr. Jacksonville and his guests Doyoung, Lauren, Sicheng and Yuta, he invited the last one only because of Sicheng, and to his surprise he caught Yuta and Lauren tossing secret glances at each other from time to time. Taeil was also performing tonight the same as Taeyong, but the huge surprise came when the MC, a pretty gril announced that Mark Lee will perform his hit single.
"Is he insane?" asked Doyoung quietly while Jae clenched his teeth.
He hated Mark for what he did and he didn't know how that evening will end. He glanced two rows behind him where Taeyong and his manager Billy were sitting, Taeyong had a cloudy face and he caught Jae's glance. A moment later he smiled to the boy and Jae felt his stomach is mixing. He turned to the stage where a rock band was performing.
He was the first to go with his new song and it was so difficult for him to sing it when all the lights were down and a blue steam filled the stage like fog. A string orchestra accompanied him and Jae tried to feel into the song. He knew the words were just for one person in the audience, the person that had written them.
'And I'd give up daylight to be with him again,' he sang realizing how true it was.
The applause was huge and Jae hurried backstage to change into his designer suit and returned to his seat.
He hoped the evening will be ok, and soon the best newcomer prize came. Jae was nominated beside Taeil and Mark what made everyone around him way too stressed.
Doyoung grabbed his hand to give him strength while the award was presented.
"The best newcomer award goes to... Mark Lee," said the young man on stage and Jae felt something glowing in his stomach. He saw how Mark jumped up in the other part of the audience and walked to the stage avoiding glances and the hands that were stretched out to him for shaking. The boy reached the man and took the statue from him he was ghostly pale and looked a little sick when he glanced through the audience towards Taeyong.
"Hi," he muttered. "Thank you to my fans... this... This is unexpected, man I don't know what to say... besides..." he took a breath and Jae glanced behind him towards Taeyong who was watching Mark in a calm way. "I'm sorry man, I didn't want to get it that way," Mark turned around and left the stage while the room went perfectly silent and Jae felt fear. To his surprise Taeyong jumped up from his chair and applauded what brought so much rumor on the stands around them and the fans started to cry loud.
"Wow, this was something," muttered Doyoung and Jae saw how Mark and Taeyong exchanged looks before both sank into their seats.
"Will this kid be punished for it?" asked a pale Lauren leaning to Jae.
"I hope not," Doyoung was stretching his head above the audience towards the boy who was told off by his manager and crew.
"Don't worry I can sign him, he's so talented," muttered Mr. Jacksonville leaning to them and Jae felt even worse, if he only had asked him about Mark.
The next performances were barely noticed by most of the audience, and then Taeil got an award for the best video of the year. Jae clapped a little while Doyoung Sicheng and Lauren jumped from their seats and applauded. Yuta and Taeyong were as curt as Jae but Taeil got standing ovations from the still pale Mark.
The bast male artist, best album, and best online artist awards all went to Taeyong and Jae tried to not to fanboy at all although it was pretty hard.
Soon Taeil was on stage with his guitar a stool and a microphone only and he seemed scared. He looked towards the place where Jae was sitting and the boy guessed he is watching Lauren.
"Ym, this is a special song, I... I wrote because I... I want to express it... but I can't," muttered Taeil while the room went silent.
