I gave Sarah a hug before she left. I waved as she pulled out of the circular driveway. I went back upstairs since it was Saturday and I had nothing to do and no one to do anything with unless you count my mum and that was just going to be weird. I turned on my t.v., my laptop, and my phone each doing something different. I got caught up in one of my favorite t.v. shows Beyond and Holden was just figuring out all of his 'powers' then I got a text. Usually I would spring to my feet and read the text, but I turned my attention back to the t.v. as soon as I did I got another text. I started reaching for my phone, but then there was a huge plot twist in Beyond and I started doing that little high pitched 'fan girl' scream. Then another text and another one. "Wow. I didn't know you were popular." my mum joked from downstairs, so I reluctantly looked at my phone. Yep four new texts.

Sarah: Had fun @the sleepover

I laughed at this text since she just wanted to try out her new phone

Nicole: Shawn Mendes coming to our school?

Yep. She was just as anxious as I was about this whole Shawn thing, but I didn't have any information about it.

Brandon: Hey did ya like the chocolates and the bear? ;P :D

My eyes scanned this text five times at least. Brandon the one that was supposed to be dating Mack. God our teenage world is so freaking crazy and big, but how the the world did this little piece of crap get my private cell phone number?

Dad: Hey hun I'm out wanna come over? Father daughters day?

I jumped off my bed and threw the phone at the other end "Is everything okay?" mum asked from downstairs. My heart raced as I looked at the phone then at my shut door then my phone then the door, the phone, the door. "Yes." I finally said as I walked back over to my phone to read the text; he never texted, he never cared. I decided to turn my phone off and put it on the charger as I went to do my laundry all the way down in the basement.

            Rhonda's POV (Skylar's mum)

I knew something was wrong, so as soon as I saw Skylar go to the basement with two big hampers of dirty laundry I knew she would be there for a while. I walked up the stairs into her room. I looked around and found no animal that might startle her, so I started looking through her backpack nothing, closet nothing, drawers nothing. A light caught my attention it was coming from her phone I looked at her phone and noticed a small crack in the screen. That must've been what was thrown, but why? I unlocked her phone and went to what was recently opened, her texts. I looked at the newest text that she had looked at, I read it.

Dad: Hey hun I'm out wanna come over? Father daughters day?

He was out. I never thought he would be out, but now he was and he wanted to see my baby. I could almost feel the steam coming out of my ears. I heard footsteps Skylar was done. I turned the phone back off, put it back on the flimsy charger and started downstairs. I got back in the kitchen when she was going back up to her room.

                   Skylar's POV

Mum was up to something, but I didn't really care I was too shook up about dad and that he was out. Mum and I never really talked about dad since we fled from him and his 'insanity' as mum would call it. After we left that night we never talked about it or him and I was glad because talking about him and what happened always made me cry but there was some unanswered questions of mine left. Mum didn't want to talk about it and I respected that. None of that keeps the fact away that I was there and that I still remember every moment like it was yesterday; I have nightmares about it all the time, but I never say anything because I don't want to bring it up.

I was five years old just a wee girl with my hair up in a neat pony tail. I had came home on the bus from school like every week day, but something was off dad wasn't in the garage with the door open so I could run into his arms and give him a hug and mum wasn't in the kitchen making me a little snack. They did it every day except that day. I kept walking. I opened the door and heard screaming coming from my mum's room I figured it was my mum's friend Jennifer watching another horror film. I opened the door. No Jennifer. All that was there was my mum in front of me she was holding her face while tears streamed down her face. I looked around before walking in and gave her a hug I remember asking her over and over "What's wrong? What's wrong mum? Who did this to you? What's wrong?" as she kept crying her hand came up and patted me on my back. Then I got picked up I started screaming "Stranger danger! Stranger danger!" I was thrown on the bed "Shut up pipsqueak!" I heard as I hit the bed and saw that it was my dad. He walked over to my mum and slapped her across her beautiful face and she still has a scar to this day because of that. I ran up to my dad and I remember yelling up to him "I want my daddy back!" while hitting his knees and he kicked me off of them and I hit a wall. I knew at that point that he was drunk.

I scrambled to my feet to grab the home phone and before I knew it I had dialed 911 "Hello this is 911 what's your emergency?" I was shaking I couldn't believe what was happening "Hello?" I answered trying to stay away "What's your emergency?" the woman on the other end of the line asked "Yes my dad's beating my mum and he hit me." I said between sobs "Where do you live?" "I don't know." I was crying really hard and dad was walking up to me "Can you stay on the line?" the woman asked "No. I'm sorry. Come quick!" I hung up the phone as mum slammed into him knocking him onto the floor. She swooped me up in her arms and got me in the car. We pulled away and as we did I saw a flash of red and blue lights. Police lights; I felt bad that dad was going to jail, but I was also happy that dad couldn't do that again. Now he's out of jail and wants to see me again.
