Song: Always Attract by You Me At Six
Oliver
“How was your date, Mel?” Nicholls questioned as Melody came through the front door. We had just finished our video chat with the fans, but none of the guys had left yet.
“It wasn’t a date, Nicholls,” I interjected quickly. “God, she’s only in eighth grade,” I muttered to myself. Why did kids have to start dating so young?
“It was great,” Melody responded with a grin. She completely ignored my comment, which told me that she had lied when she said this little outing wasn’t a date.
“Where’d you go?” Jordan questioned curiously. Couldn’t they see that I did want her to date yet? They were practically supporting her disobeying me.
“Well, we went to that Italian restaurant and then to the cinema,” she answered. To be honest, I had never seen her smile so much. As much as I loved to see her happy, I wished it wasn’t a boy who made her so happy.
Chelsea chose that moment to glance over at me. I guess I was making some kind of face because she gave me a stern look that said ‘if you ruin her happiness, I will ruin your face.’ “Honey, why don’t you invite him over for dinner sometime so we can get to talk to him a bit longer. I think your father over there needs a little reassurance that this guy isn’t going to kill you,” Chelsea suggested with a chuckle.
“Do I have to?” Melody questioned, obviously despising the idea. I was lucky that I got to meet her friends let alone someone she went on a date with.
“Yes, you do,” Chelsea responded sternly. She was always better at the whole parenting thing than I was. Melody let out a sigh, but nodded saying that she would text Tyler before running upstairs.
“Why’d you do that?” I questioned. I had no desire to get to talk to this Tyler. I didn’t want him anywhere near my daughter.
“Do what?” Chelsea asked trying to act as if she had no idea what I was talking about. It was obvious she knew how I felt about the whole thing and I was just trying to get me to change my mind.
“Tell her to invite the kid over for dinner,” I clarified. Why did she have to jump into things? Couldn’t we have talked about having him for dinner first?
“Because, whether you like it or not, she likes him and I think you might be a little less overprotective if you meet him. He seems like a nice guy,” she explained. I then let an aggravated sigh escape my lips before I went to the kitchen to grab a Coke.

“How was your date, Melody?” Harmony asked after knocking on my door. I was laying on my bed, staring up at my ceiling with the biggest smile plastered on my face as the most cheesy love songs I had on my iTunes were playing.
“It was amazing, Harmony,” I replied, sitting up in bed. Harmony and I weren’t really that close, but right now, I just needed to tell someone how amazing my date was. Since one of Harmony’s favorite subjects was boys, she was the perfect person.
“What did you guys do?” she questioned, sitting on the edge of my bed excitedly. While Harmony might love boys, she’d never actually been on a date so she was probably pretty excited to hear about mine.
“We went to dinner at that Italian restaurant and then to the cinema,” I answered, still grinning like a fool. I had never felt like this about anyone.
“Is he hot?” she asked. I knew by hot she meant like all those movie star guys she liked, but I thought Tyler was hot even if he didn’t look like one of those guys.
“Yes, he is so cute,” I practically squealed, dragging out the o in ‘so.’ She grinned at me. I think she might’ve been excited than me about my date.
“Did he kiss you?” she asked hopefully. All I could do was nod before she started bouncing up and down on my bed. “Oh my God. I can’t believe he kissed you!” she shrieked enthusiastically. She then pulled me into a hug before asking for all the details.

I stood in the hallway outside Chelsea’s and my room when I heard Harmony and Melody talking in Melody’s room. They barely ever talked voluntarily. I don’t think it was that they disliked each other. I just think that they had nothing in common. Harmony was very girly while Melody hung out with all guys.
“Is he hot?” I heard Harmony question. I couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle. Leave it Harmony to asked that question.
“Yes, he is so cute,” Melody replied happily, putting emphasis on the o. It was nice to know she was so happy, but I still didn’t know how I felt about this guy.
“Did he kiss you?” Harmony asked, her voice full of hope. The first thought that popped into my head was that he better not have laid one hand on my daughter. I didn’t hear Melody respond, but I didn’t hear what Harmony said next. “Oh my God. I can’t believe he kissed you!” she squealed with excitement. My eyes practically bugged out their sockets when I heard what she said. Tyler kissed her? I thought she said this wasn’t a date and that he didn’t like her. I couldn’t believe I had willing sent my daughter on her first date. Truthfully, at the moment, I didn’t want Melody to ever talk to this Tyler again.
