AN: I'm really sorry this took me so long to post. I have been really busy with school. My stupid Spanish teacher is really piling on the work for some reason and on top of that I went on another field trip, which means I had a ton of work to make up. Other than that, I've had some stuff with my friends going. Hopefully I'll be able to post the next chapter more quickly and update my other stories soon!

Song: Deathbeds by Bring Me The Horizon

Tyler

It had been a week since my birthday. I missed Jake, but of course I had Melody to fill the gap that being away from my best friend had created. Ever since the whole Leah thing, we had gotten closer. Every time I was around her, my whole world seemed to light up. To be honest, I think I was falling in love with her. I knew I was only fourteen and we hadn't known each other that long, but what we had was special. I could seriously see us together for the longest time. I could see myself graduating high school hand in hand with her. She made me feel better when I felt down. I knew I could trust her. She was the only person I felt one hundred percent comfortable with these days.

Today was the day that Feel My Heart would be playing their first show. I had offered to help them set up their equipment. The place was pretty small, but I knew they were all really nervous even if only about thirty people could fit in the place comfortably. Melody looked tense enough to throw up. In our short relation, I had never seen her act that way.

They were suppose to go on in ten minutes and Melody was currently pacing the small backstage area reciting the lyrics to some songs with the look of anxiety on her face. "Mel, you need to calm down," I told her, gripping her shoulders. She looked up at me sheepishly. She obviously knew she was being overdramatic.

"I'm sorry. I'm just really nervous. I mean, only a few people have heard us play before. I just want these people to like our music," she admitted, wiping her evidently clammy palms on her black jeans. I understood what she meant. It's not that I knew what this was like for her, but I knew what it was liked to be judged.

"I know, but the more you worry, the more you'll screw up," I replied. From my own experiences, every time I fret about something, I end up just making a bigger fool out of myself in the end. "Just go out there and have fun," I added with a half smile.

"You're right, it's just a bit nerve racking," she replied with a deep breath. She still looked like she might freak out before they went on, but she gave me a smile that told me she was going to be fine.

"You guys ready to go?" the club owner questioned, looking at the four bandmates. They all nodded eagerly and followed him to the side of the stage. Mr. Sykes, who had also come to watch, and I followed behind them and after a moment, the guy gave them the cue to go.

They ran out and the few people who were there cheered. "We're Feel My Heart and this song is called My Favourite Thing," Melody announced to the crowd with her show-stopping smile. They then started in with the song, which was as always beautiful. They then played their cover of 'The Best Thing (That Never Happened),' originally by We Are The End Crowd, and their original song, 'What Are You So Scared Of?.'

"So, this next song is originally by one of my favorite bands and we've never played in front of other people before. It's called 'Deathbeds' originally by Bring Me The Horizon," Melody announce, looking over at her dad and I before shooting her father a grin. When I looked up, Mr. Sykes was smiling right back at his daughter. They seemed to have such a special connection. It was something I wished I could have with my dad, but I knew could never happen.

"Eyes like a car crash I know I shouldn't look but I can't turn away," Melody started to sing. I had never heard the song before, but in all honesty, it was beautiful. I bet Mr. Sykes wrote it about Melody's mum. They seemed to have the perfect relationship. They still looked so in love even after so many years of marriage. The other day while I was at Melody's, I had come into the kitchen to get a soda and I seen them talking and kissing and they just looked so happy. It made me want the same kind of relationship with whoever I ended up marrying.

When Melody was done sing, the whole place erupted into cheers and claps, mine and Mr. Sykes' being the loudest. "Thank you!" Melody shouted before they ran off stage.

"You guys were amazing!" I exclaimed truthfully. They had left me in awe. Melody had a beautiful voice and they all played their instruments so well. I couldn't have been more proud of my girlfriend. Despite the fact that her dad was right there, I gave Melody a quick celebratory kiss and then hug. I never wanted to let go, but I knew I had to.

"I'm so proud of you," my dad whispered as he pulled me into his tattooed arms. I could feel myself beam. I always just wanted to make him happy. He was my idol when it came to music and to hear him say those words made me the happiest girl in the world. No matter how nervous I had been before the show, I was now radiating cheerfulness.

"Let's go celebrate!" Corey announced, causing me to chuckle. He was always looking for an excuse to get food and a celebration always had food involved.

"You guys want to go get ice cream or something?" my dad suggested. There was this ice cream place that my dad and I went to a lot when we could go without Mum, Harmony, or Linkin. It was kind of like our special place to go.

"Hell yes!" Corey replied, again producing a laugh from me. My dad fortunately didn't make a commented about his slight curse. He had never been the type to care if we cursed. Instead he helped us pack up our stuff and we were then on our way.

After a short drive, we arrived at the restaurant and climbed out. A waitress seated us after giving my dad some looks. I guess it's not ever day a guy covered with tattoos comes in with five middle schoolers. It took us all of five minutes to figure out what we wanted and order.

"I propose a toast!" Elliot announced goofily, raising the plastic cup holding his soda. We all chuckled before raising our glasses with him. "To us and not screwing up our first show too badly," he said, causing us all to burst out laughing. It hadn't been perfect, but the show was good enough for me and I think people actually liked us. Even if they didn't, I knew we'd always have two fans: my dad and Tyler.
