Song: Last First Kiss by The Summer Set
Melody
As I glanced in the mirror one last time, there was a knock at door. I quickly ran downstairs in an attempt to get to the door before my dad did. I didn’t need him playing twenty questions with Tyler. Fortunately, it wasn’t Tyler at the door. When I arrived downstairs, Dad was talking to Uncle Nicholls and not Tyler.
“Hey, Melody,” Uncle Nicholls greeted. Uncle Nicholls wasn’t my real uncle. He just my parents’ friend, but I had known him my whole life so he just like an uncle to me.
“Hey, Uncle Nicholls,” I replied. Seeing him reminded me that Bring Me The Horizon was suppose to do some long ass video chat because their album was coming out soon and they were doing a Q and A about it.
He then joined Uncle Matt on the couch to wait for the rest of the band. “You look nice, Melody,” Uncle Matt complimented. “Going somewhere special?” he added. When I said the rest of Bring Me The Horizon were like my uncles, I really meant they were all like my fathers. They weren’t as strict as Dad, but they cared about me just as much.
“I’m going out with a friend,” I replied, feeling my cheeks get hot. By the look on his face, I could tell he would be just as overprotective as Dad if he knew that I really wanted this to be a date.
“Ooo, a friend,” he teased. I stuck out my tongue at him just as there was another knock at the door. I practically ran to go get it. I could feel my stomach do a flip-flop at the thought of seeing Tyler.
“God, Mel, calm down. It’s just Jordan and Lee,” Dad told me with a chuckle. It was like he liked seeing me get all nervous every time someone was a the door.
About ten minutes later, there was another knock at the door. Unfortunately, I wasn’t ready for it and my dad made it the door before me. “You must be Tyler,” Dad greeted.
“Yes, it’s nice to meet you, sir,” I could hear Tyler respond. From what I could see, he looked a bit taken aback. It was probably because he wasn’t expecting my dad to look the way he did.
I was hoping my dad would just let us go with no questions, but to my dismay, he stood aside to let Tyler in. His facial expression was again a bit shocked when he saw all of Bring Me The Horizon on our couch.
“Hi, Melody,” Tyler greeted when he saw me sitting in a chair next to the couch. He gave me an adorable and rubbed his hands against his jeans.
“Is this your friend?” Uncle Nicholls asked glancing from Tyler to me. As I said, all of them acted like they were my fathers.
“Yep. This is Tyler,” I answered with a nod. “Tyler, these are my uncles. Nicholls, Matt, Jordan, and Lee,” I added, pointing to each of them. He gave them an awkward wave before shoving his hands in his pockets. My mum of course chose that moment to enter the room.
“Oh, you must be Tyler. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Melody’s mum,” my mum told him before shaking his hand. At least she seemed happy to meet him.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Sykes,” Tyler greeted with a smile. He again looked a bit surprised. This time I think it was because my mum looked really young. We once got asked if we were sisters.
Thankfully, my dad only got to ask him a few questions before Tyler said his mum was waiting outside and that she had to be somewhere after she dropped us off. After Tyler said that, I practically sprinted to the door.
