I Won't Leave Again (Touken)

Chapter 11: Preparation

As soon as Kaneki left the room, Touka received a text message from her best friend Yoriko Kosaka, a human, so quickly it was like Yoriko was watching him leave.

"Hey! What r u up 2 tonite?" 

She always used annoying shortcuts, but Touka humoured her. Touka pondered telling her she had a date with Kaneki, knowing Yoriko she'd overreact. Touka didn't want to hide it as it would mean more trouble later.

"I actually have a date tonight with Kaneki"

After several minutes there was no response. 20 minutes later, someone was banging on her door. Touka opened the door as Yoriko rushed in.

"You guys finally got together! It's about time!"

Touka blushed

"How did you get in here?"

"Nishiki"

"Why are you here?"

"First, we gotta decide what you're going to wear for your date"

"WHA! No we don't. I'm going to be casual"

"Oh come on you know you want to look nice"

"... Yeah maybe a bit, but nothing too crazy Yoriko"

"Oooooh this is going to be fun!"

Meanwhile upstairs

Kaneki was speaking with the manager who gladly gave him his job back, especially after seeing his new look.

"Nobody should be able to connect you to "The Eyepatch" now based on your appearance. You're good to start tomorrow?"

"Yes sir I'd be more than happy too"

Yoshimura went into the storage closet and grabbed Kaneki's old uniform.

"Here, hopefully it still fits you've bulked up a bit I don't know how quickly we can get another one tailored"

"It'll be fine thanks"

"You still remember how to make coffee?"

"Of course, I made coffee regularly while I was away, in fact I think it's gotten pretty good if I do say so myself"

"Well I can't wait to try it" Yoshimura chuckled.

"Also, thanks for giving Touka the day off, she's been through a lot recently based on what I've seen and what you've told me.

"No problem, but it was Kaya more than me"

"Yeah... um sir? Can I ask you a question?"

"Certainly"

"I'm taking Touka out later"

Yoshimura half smiled, he always knew they had a thing for each other

"I'm meeting her at the train station; I'm wondering if you know anywhere she'd really like to go?"

Yoshimura looked away as he thought about it.

"Touka doesn't get out of the city much, maybe you could find something fun outside of town?"

"Outside of town... hmm" Kaneki thought it over before a lightbulb went off in his head

"I got it! Thanks sir!" With that he left as Yoshimura chuckled again.

"Ahh youth"

Kaneki wanted to see Hinami so he stopped by only to see her reading the new Sen Takatsuki book. He fanboyed a little not even bothering to say hi.
