Chapter 14: Nightmare

Roughly a week later

Things were finally feeling back to normal at Anteiku with the exception of Touka and Kaneki being "head over heels" for each other. They frequently laughed and joked to the point where it almost distracted from their work. Yoshimura had to be careful about giving them too many shifts together. 

Kaya and Koma were happy with the lack of drama, enjoying the peace. 

Uta, Itori and even Yomo came to see Kaneki to ask about his recovery. 

Roma was still clumsy, but had gotten a new ghoul boyfriend to help her get over Kaneki. 

Nishiki enjoyed teasing, but still showed a caring side; to Touka's surprise, he asked if she and Kaneki wanted to go on a double date with him and his human girlfriend, Kimi Nishino. She didn't know if she wanted too, but Kaneki spit out a friendly yes before she had the chance to respond. They had more fun than expected. 

A positive atmosphere hung over Anteiku like the sun in the sky. 

"Ahhh so that's what they mean by bass clef" Kaneki was giving Hinami a piano lesson showing her the notes and scales in more detail. 

"Great job Hinami, before we go any further I want you to study this OK? 

"OK!" 

"Great, anyway I gotta go I have a date with Touka" Hinami's eyes lit up. Seeing her Kaneki Onii-Chan and Touka Onee-Chan together made her tremendously happy, she believed they belonged together like a prince and princess. 

"What are you two gonna do?" 

"A scary movie..." 

"Have fun! Also since you don't work tomorrow, I was wondering if you wanted to come to the mall with me? I want to go to the bookstore and pick up a new novel." 

"Of course! I'll get one too! Just let me know when you want to go." 

"Great! Have fun!" Kaneki walked down to Touka's room and entered. 

"Hey you ready to go?" 

"Yup just let me grab my coat"

Timeskip to after the movie

"That movie was so cheesy Kaneki" 

"You liked it" 

"Yeah I did, but you wouldn't let go of my hand. Aren't you supposed to be a super strong ghoul?" 

"That has nothing to do with the movie! It was just scary" 

"Don't worry you big baby I'll protect you" She nudged him.

"Aw thanks haha"

They arrived back at Anteiku, Kaneki accompanying her this time. They had seen a late movie so the shop was closed. They walked up the stairway coming to their hall on the second floor. 

"Well that was fun Touka" 

"Sure you're going to be able to sleep tonight?" 

"We're never going to another movie again" 

"Oh stop I'm just teasing you... Say, you know it's not that late and I'm not very tired... Do you wanna come over?" 

Kaneki looked at her. 

"Sure" 

Together they stepped inside Touka's apartment. It was about 11:30 pm, but neither had to work tomorrow. Kaneki sat down on the couch; Touka went and grabbed a glass of water before settling down next to him. They snuggled on the couch watching late night TV picking at each other without a care in the world.
