3 years had passed since Kaneki decided to return to Kamii. Both he and Touka graduated, Kaneki with a degree in Literature and Touka in Arts. Despite this however, both were more than happy working in a simple coffee shop.
Touka, aspiring to own a coffee shop one day, was given the option to become the next manager of Anteiku, once Yoshimura steps down. Although appreciative, she wishes to get there herself one day. With her relationship with her brother improving, seeing Hinami growing up happy and healthy and most importantly, her soul mate, Kaneki, by her side, she's never felt truly happier.
Hinami has grown into a teenager and fully developed a musical passion from learning piano with Kaneki, she looks to one day join a music program with the support of her Onii-Chan, Kaneki. Yomo took custody of her as an official guardian, but she always looks at Kaneki and Touka as close siblings as if there was, in fact, a blood connection.
Nishiki settled down with Kimi, marrying her, but still retained his snarky sarcastic, but, caring attitude towards those around him, even Touka.
Ayato, now in a relationship with Roma, learned how to enjoy the easy life and is finally getting back to the relationship he once had with his sister. He even took Kaneki's room across the hall after Kaneki moved in with Touka. He also wants to help Kaneki on his mission to bridge the gap between humans and ghouls, whenever he chooses to go after it.
Hide and Yoriko dated for 2 years before mutually breaking up citing different interests. Hide, knowing Kaneki's situation and having experience working around the CCG, wants to be a human ambassador for the ghouls some day. They remain close friends as well as Yoriko and Touka.
Yoshimura, despite his own tragedies, made peace with his inner demons, relaxing in his elderly days.
Finally Ken Kaneki, after graduating, still works at Anteiku and keeps a close relationship with all the employees. He unintentionally swoons girls that come in with his toned physique boyish charm, and politeness, much to Touka's chagrin.
Summer is now here.
Although returning to the band of rebels and pursuing peace was still a goal, Kaneki had yet another major step he wanted to take first... This leads us to the Final Chapter. For anybody following this story as it updates, Check it out this weekend ;)
