I walked in and a mob of people were waiting on me. everyone was asking me what had happened and if I was okay and, thank god, the principal, Coach Overton, asked if I meet him in his office.

"leave her alone!" he yelled "unless she wants to talk too you, leave her alone."

Some girls left and others stayed and asked about cheer and such. the bell rang

this was going to be a wild day.

before class I went to the principals office and we had a little discussion.

"our counselor is part of the DHS system. you will be taking your 4th hour to be talking to her for the school year."

this was stupid. I was fine and as long as I was at Mom's and the kids were at their aunts. We were all safe from the monster that put me in this mess. this is stupid shi-

"mrs. roberts? are you alright? is this decision okay with you?"

i nodded and walked out.

I don't need anything. I can get through this mess. I got myself into it and I'm going to get myself out of it. I don't need a counselor. I'm fine. I'll be okay. I'm Not dying.  I'm going to live. I'm okay with not seeing my dad, wherever he is. Matter of fact My siblings and I have been waiting for this break for years. We're all better off without him. He may say he loves us, but his actions are uncontrollable. He says things and it leaves you sick to your tummy and tears in your eyes.

Anger boiled as I walked into the library and sat down by one boy  whom I've never meet before. when the movie was about to start,  he was examining my boot.

"what happened?"

"it's a long story. . . It's hard to explain."

"hey, your maci right? the cheerleader?"

i cheered up a bit and said

"yeah, yeah that's me. and you are??"

he struggled to remember his name and said

"oh, sorry Layne. Layne Brooks."

"Maci Roberts."

we later exchanged numbers and the first thing he sent me was

"loopy lope do It's LLLAAAAYYYNNNEEE"

we shook hands and he had a firm grip. Layne was kind of nice and goofy, but he was hot too. I had never met him before, but he seemed like a nice guy.

 I mean, what's the harm?
