Chapter forty three

Ashton's POV

"Ash, Cal was hit directly." Luke choked out.

Lena was rubbing my friends arm, still holding my daughter. "Is he...?" I asked, trying to hold it together for my children.

"No, at least we don't think so. No one is talking to us because we aren't family. We didn't even know you were okay until now." Lena said.

"Oh. Well maybe I can find something out." I said.

I gave Leo to Luke and went to find a nurse or doctor or anyone.

Luke's POV

It happened so fast. I was behind Calum and Ashton, just driving and laughing with Michael, stopped at a red traffic light. It finally turned green and Ashton started to drive forward, and out of nowhere a truck sped into the intersection and crashed into them.

"Unca Luke?" Keira asked.

"Yes baby?" I said.

"Daddy's okay." She told me.

"I know. I see him." I said.

"Wheres Daddy Cam?" She asked.
"Daddy's gone to find out." I said.

Keira lost interest in me and ran to Harry, who was sitting with his boys and waiting while Lena was comforting Michael.

Suddenly I had a flashback to when Lena was living with us.

"Morning Lukey." Lena said, sitting beside me.

"Morning." I said.

"Where's Ashton?" She asked me.

"He went to get some stuff for the plane trip tomorrow with Cal and Mikey." I told her.

"So it's just you and me?" She asked, leaning on my shoulder. I tensed but was happy she was so comfortable with me. If only she liked me the way she liked Ashton. But that was okay. It really was. Lena was happy.

"Yep." I said, wrapping an arm around her.

We sat in silence for a long time when the door finally opened and Michael and Ashton came in, followed by Calum.

"Hey guys." I said.

"Hey." Lena said.

Ashton came over and kissed her roughly. I frowned. "I missed you. Were you okay this morning?" He asked.

"I was fine. I missed you too. Get anything interesting?" Lena asked.

"Just food and stuff. I got you something." He said.

"Ooh, can i see?" She asked.

"Not here. Come on." Ashton said, pulling me up.

"Use protection!" Mikey called.

Lena flipped him off and followed Ashton down the hall.

Those times were simple. God, they were so long ago. I wanted to return to then. Before Lena was pregnant with Keira. Before Ashton and Calum were married with Lena. Before One Direction broke up and before Lena's accident.

Before we all grew up.

I didn't like waiting here in this waiting room to find out if Calum would be okay. I wanted to argue with him over video games like before.

This was just horrible. Everyone had gone and grown up without me, it seemed.

"Luke?"
