One Direction's Big Break: The End

Chapter 61

Harry's POV

Lena was sound asleep on the couch, and I was watching TV beside her when Keira came downstairs, dragging her blanket behind her and rubbing one eye. I remember when I met her, she was about a month old. She had grown so much since then. "What's wrong, baby?" I asked her. It was late, and she'd been sleeping. 

"Mummy forgot to sing me my magic song." she said. 

"Oh, baby. Mummy didn't forget." I said, reaching for her. She crawled into my lap and laid her head on my chest. "You fell asleep at Uncle Liam's and we just carried you to bed." 

"I need my song." she whined, and she reached for Lena, but I stopped her. "We can't wake up Mummy. She's very very tired because of the baby." I said. "I'll sing to you, baby girl." 

"Okay," she said, and snuggled into my chest more. "I love you, Daddy." 

"I love you too, darling." I said. 

I tucked her blanket around her and settled her in before I began to think of a song for her. It finally came to me, and I began to stroke Keira's hair as I sang. "Sweet creature," I sang softly. "Had another talk about where it's going wrong. And we're still young. We don't know where we're going but we know where we belong. Oh, we started two hearts in one home.It's hard when we argue we're both stubborn I know. But oh, sweet creature. Sweet creature, wherever I go you bring me home.Sweet creature, sweet creature, when I run out of road, you bring me home." 

She fell asleep soon, and I sighed happily. My beautiful baby girl, and my beautiful Lena both snored lightly as they slept. The wedding was in five days. In just five days, she'd be Mrs. Lena Styles. We were heading to Holmes Chapel tomorrow. Lena didn't want to stay with me while we were there until after the wedding-something about making the wedding night more special. So, Liam and Lena would be staying at a hotel, and Keira with them, and I would be going home to my mum and Robin. 

Mum was very excited. She had never actually met Lena-the time we dated in the beginning, I was on tour, then I was "dead", and then Lena had gotten hurt. My family had nearly missed meeting her several times, but they'd never been in the same room. 

That's why we were going to Holmes Chapel so early. I carried Keira back to bed and returned for Lena, and then carried her to bed as well. While I was very excited for tomorrow, I was nervous. Mum didn't yet know Lena was pregnant, either. I didn't want things to go badly just before the wedding. 

I guess we would find out.

"Lena, don't freak out." Liam assured his sister. "Anne is going to love you." 

"But what if she doesn't?" Lena asked. "What will I do?" 

"You will move on and be civil. For Harry." he said. 

I decided to make my presence known and entered the room. Lena was sitting in the chair across the room, and Liam was standing next to her. He looked concerned. "Ah, Harry, please calm her down. She's getting anxious and it's making her sick." he said. 

She looked up at me with wide eyes and her face was rather pale. "Oh, baby," I said, going to crouch in front of her. I felt her forehead. She wasn't running a fever, but she was sweating. "If you don't get better we can't go. I don't want to risk your health this close to the wedding." I said. 

"No!" she cried. "If I don't go then your family will think I chickened out of meeting them!" 

"Shh, Lena, you have got to calm down." Liam said, crouching beside me. 

"It's just my mum, Lena." I said. "She won't bite. And Robin and Gemma are going to be nice." 

"Okay. Okay. Okay." she said over and over.  

"Good. Now, why don't you lie down for a nap and I'll come wake you up when it's time to go." I said, touching her face. "I love you." 

"I love you too." she said. Liam kissed her cheek and followed me out the door. 

"Harry I'm worried about her." Liam said as we continued to his room down the hall from Lena's. "She's been really high strung." 

"She's stressed about the wedding, and she's pregnant, Liam." I said. "She's entitled to some anxiety." 

"It's more than that." he said. "I heard the doctor was concerned about her blood pressure." 

I frowned. The doctor had said that yesterday at our appointment, and reminded Lena to keep calm and not drink caffeine. "She's gonna be fine, Liam." I said. 

"I hope so." he said. 

I clapped his shoulder and dialed my mother's phone number. "Harry!" she exclaimed. "When can we expect you and Lena today?" 

"She's resting right now, but I'll call you when she wakes up." I said. "Mum, I need a favor." 

"Anything, love." she said. 

"Lena is very very nervous to meet you all." I said. "And I know that this visit is very important, so I need you to try to be...calm. Make Lena feel comfortable. And Mum...we have some big news to tell you, and I need you to be very supportive of her. Of us." 

"Alright, love. I'll pass it along to Gemma and Robin." she said. 

"Thank you, Mum."  I said. 

"Of course." she said. 

We hung up and I turned back to Liam. "She's going to try to make things easier for Lena." I told him. He smiled. "Good." he said.

"Liam, I never got the chance to tell you...I am so glad I met you. You have been the best friend I could ever ask for. And...and without you I never would have met her. And I love her more than anything. So thank you. You have brought meaning to my life I never knew I needed." I said. 

I don't know where it came from. But I wasn't done. "And I know there's a part of you that will never forgive me for breaking her heart, and a part of you that believes that car accident would've never happened without me. And that may be true. We've been through a lot since you found her that day. And I'm glad, that even though we went through some really bad shit, that you and I can be here right now, still having this conversation. And I hope that, once you give Lena away, you'll stand beside me as my groomsman." 

Liam smiled. "Of course, Harry. I would be honored." he said. 

I hugged him and he hugged me back. And I smiled, thinking of a lifetime ago when I met a young Liam on the X-Factor.
