Ethan's p.o.v.

Gray, Lola, Veronica and I spent the day shopping, eating and toward the end of it we went and saw the movie Split. Veronica was nowhere near scared; she was on the edge of her seat most of the time, except for one part. She jumped and buried her face in the crook of my neck.

"Is it over?" She whispered, so close to my ear.

I laughed slightly and said, "Yes it is."

She lifted her head to turn back toward the movie screen but she stopped and looked into my eyes. Her hazel eyes sparkled in the dark and I feel her hot breath blow across my face as her heart sped up. I glanced down at her lips wanting to kiss her. She must've seen me look down because she turned away and kept watching the movie. I felt disappointed in myself because I shouldn't have tried to kiss her. I shrunk back into the seat away from Veronica. What she did next surprised me; she put her head down on my shoulder. I froze but relaxed and pulled her closer. It just felt right.

A few hours later, we left and we ran into a girl named Mary.

"Hi Veronica! Hey Lola! It's so great to see you!" She said. I was uncomfortable with the way she was looking at me. "Who are these young gentlemen you're with?"

Veronica also seemed uncomfortable with the way she was acting but Veronica still introduced everyone. "These are our friends Ethan and Grayson Dolan," she said as she introduced us, "Grayson, Ethan this is Mary."

"Nice to meet you Mary," Grayson said, using his opposite hand to shake Mary's hand. He was holding Lola's with the other. I shook her hand as well.

"I was heading to the beach just now. Would guys like to join?" Mary asked her eyes landing on me trying to tempt me. Lola and Grayson decided to go, but I was going wherever Veronica was going.

"What about you, Ethan?" Mary asked me, purposefully ignoring Veronica. I was uncomfortable under her calculating gaze.

"I think I'll go if Veronica goes. Are you?" I looked down at her with a poker face. I wanted to sneer at Mary's tone, actions and whole vibe.

"I think I'm going to pass. I have something I want to do at home," Veronica said. This made me relax; I did not want to go to the beach with Mary.

I started to walk to the car and I thought that Veronica was following me. When I got to the drivers side though I could see Mary gripping her upper arm through the window. She said something to Veronica and even though I couldn't hear her I could tell it was a threat. Veronica walked over to the passenger side of my car and got in.

"Ready to go?" She asked me.

"Yeah let's go," I said, pulling out of the parking lot and onto the road.

The car ride was quiet. Veronica was starring out the window most of the time and wringing her hands. I could tell whatever Mary said was making her worry. Steering with my left hand, I reached over with my right and held her hand. Veronica stopped for a second, and looked down at her hands. Out of the corner of my eye I could see her smile slightly and look back out the window. She intertwined her fingers with mine and I gave her hand a small squeeze of reassurance. I looked at her a few times and I could see the wind blow a few strands of hair across her face. I fell a little farther in love with her just by looking at her.

Almost ten minutes later, we made it back to Veronica's apartment and she seemed to relax a lot more. I followed her upstairs and through the door silently. She went into her room and shut the door, leaving me standing alone in the kitchen. I set her bags from the mall down on the table and started to walk over to the couch. She stepped out of the hallway and tossed a bag at me. I caught it and cringed because it sounded like a camera and possibly a tripod. She had a camera hanging around her neck and a black leather backpack.
