Veronica's p.o.v.

As we pulled up to the office, the storm seemed to become even more violent with wind tearing umbrellas away and rain pouring out of the sky. I jumped out of the car and ran straight to the door with Ricky following closely behind me. I thought I was safe from the storm but as soon as we stepped foot into the lobby, I was swept up in a whole other storm. Lights were flashing and people were shouting.

"Rose over here!"

"Hey Rose, what do you look like behind that mask?"

"Are you dating anyone?"

Ricky quickly lead me to an elevator that was being monitored by two men in black suits. He showed them an ID, they pressed the button and held back the photographers from getting into the elevator.

"What was that all about?" I asked Ricky. He seemed relieved that we were able to get away from them without any problems.

"That's part of what Alex wants to talk to you about. Just wait until we get up there."

Ricky and I stood in the elevator and as it went up the thunder from the storm shook the whole building. The elevator stopped and the doors opened. There was a strange silence that settled over Ricky and I as we walked to Alex White's office.

"She'll never be able to do what you want her to do. She's probably can't even sing," someone said as they stormed out of Alex's office and brushed past me. "Watch where you're going lady," the person said without stopping to apologize.

I simply rolled my eyes and walked into Mr. White's office. Alex was on the phone with someone and he was shuffling through papers on his desk when I sat down in a chair on the other side of his desk with Ricky standing off to the side.

Mr. White glanced up from his stack of papers and quickly ended his phone call before standing up and walking over to one of the full-length windows in the office. "The storm is pretty bad out there, isn't it," he asked.

"It is pretty bad," I told him, "But I prefer stormy weather. There's a sense of mystery and beauty to it."

Alex sighed before he turned around and walked back over to his desk. He folded his arms before saying, "We found a really great opportunity for you Veronica. You'd have to travel alot for awhile but it would increase your fan base and you would be exposed to new audiences."

"What specifically is this 'opportunity' you have for me? What will I be doing exactly?" I asked. I was so confused with what Alex was telling me.

As another roll of thunder shook the building, Mr. White sighed and said, "We want you to go on tour. We want you to sing."

Time seemed to stop after he said this. Tour? They want me to sing? As time stood still I could see raindrops running down the window as distant lightning flashed through the sky.

After a long minute, the questions began to spill from my mouth. "How long will I be going away for? Where am I going? Who is coming with me? Who can I bring with?"

Alex looked back at Ricky and chuckled, "We'll figure all of that out soon enough. We're going to have a meeting next week you should definitely attend."

"Ok," I said sitting back in the chair. I didn't know what to expect anymore. What will be next; Ellen? A photo shoot for a magazine?

Mr. White must've noticed a change in my posture because he sat down and asked, "How is your grandma?"

I had tried to push the thoughts of my grandma in a hospital bed and my dad being depressed out of my head for the past few days. "She isn't doing very well. From what my mom has been telling me she's getting worse. My dad has been really depressed lately because of this." I fought with everything I had, at that moment in Alex's office, to hold in my emotions that were threatening to spill over.
