~~1 month later~~
“Wakey, wakey, wakey, wakey,” I heard Jess’s voice over and over right in my ear.
I groaned and turned over as much as I could, trying to drown her out by pressing my face into the pillow. It didn’t work though seeing as Jess was on top of me, straddling my waist so that I couldn’t move.
“Five more minutes,” I moaned childishly, still trying to shake her off.
“You said that 10 minutes ago,” she scoffed. “I have to go in a few minutes and you’ve got an hour and a half till you have to be at work.”
I opened my eyes for the first time to see her completely dressed and ready. Today was Jess’s first day back to work and I had been dreading it for a more than a few reasons.
“We should just skip work today. Run away to another country or something,” I said half jokingly.
“Hmm sounds tempting but I kind of like my job,” she laughed.
“Well, it worked out well for me.”
“Yes, you running away to another country worked out well for me too,” she smiled before leaning down and kissing me. Her lips trailed down to the side of my neck and I felt her hands slowly pulling the blanket off my body. I was still naked from last night and I felt her smirk as she continued to work her way down.
“Jess…don’t..”
“Don’t what?” she asked in an amused tone.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish,” I said as I pulled her back up.
She simply winked at me before rolling off of me and standing up.
“I have to go now. Breakfast is downstairs and I’ll see you later,” she said as she reapplied her lip gloss and walked toward the door. “I love you!” she yelled on her way out.
“I love you too,” I answered.
I got out of bed and immediately went in search of some clothes. I had accumulated a decent wardrobe over the past few weeks. Less than half of it was at my own place, I’m pretty sure. Jess and I took turns staying with each other but most of the time we ended up at hers which I didn’t mind.
Eventually, I did find something to wear and after I managed to make my hair look decent, I made my way downstairs to eat whatever Jess had left. As I ate I thought about what would be happening today. The day after Tamra made her threat, I returned to work and refused her advances. She was pissed but all she said was that it was my choice and I would evidently pay for it. I had no idea what that meant but time went on and she left me alone for the most part save for her constantly looking me up and down every time she caught sight of me.
I tried to ignore this and it worked somewhat. It still made me uncomfortable and a little stressed but so far nothing happened to neither me nor Jess so I figured it was just an empty threat. I knew I would find out when Jess went back to work but I really doubt anything would happen.
Other than that whole mess I really liked my job. I’d befriended Ally and she was always really sweet toward me and well, everyone. We worked together on most of the projects we were assigned and well, I enjoyed that part of it.
I glanced at my phone and figured it was time for me to head out now. I managed to get a cab fairly quickly and so I headed to work, just hoping today would be a normal day. Well, as normal as it can be.
