When Mark was healthy enough to go back to school, which was after two days, he got excited. He hasn't spoken to Jaehyun in two days, as his phone always seems to be dead so it's pointless to text or call the boy.
Mark walked to the two best friends' spot where they met up every morning to walk to school together. It was a corner by Mark's favorite bakery, and the two boys usually got their breakfast from there. It had to be Mark's favorite part of the day.
The blonde smiled to himself at the thought of getting his hands on his favorite pastry, but his smile quickly turned into a frown when he saw who was at the corner.
Jaehyun turned his head to see Mark standing at the end of the street and waved his arm for his friend to come over.
But Mark's feet didn't move.
He watched as Jaehyun turned back to Haechan and began talking amd laughing. Why was Donghyuck here? Did those two become good pals while Mark was gone? How did this happen in just two short days?
Mark had to force himself to begin walking by grabbing one leg and moving it forwards, and did the same to the other leg and kept repeating until he walked by himself.
"Hi Mark!" Haechan greeted the boy, but Mark didn't bother returning the greeting.
The boys waited in silence for Mark to completely make his way over to them, as he was going extremely slow.
"Hurry up or we won't have time to get breakfast." Jaehyun pointed at the small bakery, and Mark immediately lifted his head and began going faster.
He avoided Haechan and stuck himself next to Jae, and the three walked into the bakery.
Haechan quickly made his way to the glass display cases to pick out what he wanted, since he's never been to this place. Mark and Jaehyun on the other hand already knew what they wanted, so they got a spot in line.
The place was always bustling, so it looked like it was going to take a while before they could order.
Mark looked at Donghyuck who's mouth was watering over the delicious looking pastries. He leaned over to Jaehyun and elbowed his side, not letting his eyes off the younger boy.
"Why is Donghyuck here?" Mark questioned, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jaehyun smiled. "I invited him to walk to school with us today. While you were gone, I decided to make a new friend, like you told me to."
Mark opened his mouth to make a reply, but closed it as Jaehyun was right; he did tell the boy to make a new friend if he got lonely while he was out sick. He had to deal with walking to school with this extra person.
Donghyuck skipped over to the boys and told Jaehyun what he wanted since he offered to pay. Haechan then snuggled himself inbetween them, linking his arms with them as well. Mark urked to himself, trying to make himself even the slightest bit comfortable in this position.
Mark was silent the entire time they waited in line, but Haechan and Jaehyun were chatting up a storm. They would ask Mark questions or try to get him to talk every now and then, but Mark didn't bother to open his mouth.
"Why is he acting like such a grump? He was so sweet the other day..." Donghyuck asked Jae, moving his head so that his face was just inches from the blonde's. "What's wrong, Mark?"
Mark's eyes met with Donghyuck's, making him immediately look away. He shook his head, mumbling,"Nothing. I just still don't feel the best." He tried to focus on something else in the shop. "Can you move away, please? You're making me really uncomfortable, and it's our turn to order." He tried to act as polite as possible, but a bit of annoyance was traced in his voice.
Haechan pouted a bit and brought his head away from Mark's and unlinked all of their arms, making Mark sigh with relief.
Jaehyun told the cashier what all three of them wanted and she told them it would be a short while until they got their breakfast. Haechan was excited as he was bouncing around, drawing attention to the three boys.
"Jaehyun, make him stop. People are staring." Mark whispered harshly to him, his eyes glued to the energetic boy.
Jae furrowed his brows. "Leave him alone, Mark. He's not hurting anyone."
Mark pursed his lips as the cashier returned with their orders. He quickly grabbed his pastry and bowed slightly, thanking the cashier. He then walked away from his friend and other boy, deciding that he would wait outside so he wouldn't get embarassed.
Jaehyun and Donghyuck came out of the bakery laughing, making Mark a bit jealous. When Donghyuck's eyes fell on Mark leaning against the front of the store, he jogged up to him.
"This is delicious, Mark! Do you want a bite?" He held it out to him, and ogled the elder boy's treat. "Ooh, can I have a bite of yours?"
Mark groaned internally, but let the kid take off a piece of the soft pastry, but declined his offer of having a bite of his treat.
Donghyuck thanked Mark and went back over to Jaehyun, and the two almost instantly engaged in another conversation. Mark scrunched up his nose and looked at the watch that was wrapped around his wrist. They had to hurry if they wanted to get to school on time, so the jealous boy decided to hurry along and walk past the two boys, not bothering to tell them that they were running out of time.
"Man, what is his problem?" Jaehyun cocked an eyebrow, and Donghyuck shrugged.
