When the ferris wheel came to a complete stop on Mark and his friends' capsule, the three walked out; Mark and Sicheng avoided eye contact the entire way out of the ferris wheel area, making the atmosphere awkward and quiet for Jaehyun.
"C'mon, you guys know that I was joking about the dating thing, right?" He trapped Mark in a playful headlock and messed up his hair, making the shorter blonde whine. "I know you still like Tzuyu, right?" Jae looked up at the now dark sky sprinkled with stars.
Mark didn't answer, because he wasn't sure himself.
He liked Tzuyu a lot. He loved how she was so shy and caring, and her looks made his heart swoon, but ever since the whole incident that he was involved in with her, he felt nothing.
After their conversation, Tzuyu would smile at Mark from across the classroom or she would try to come up and talk to the boy, but his heartbeat didn't speed up like it used to.
But it did speed up when he was close to Donghyuck, and it also sped up when he was close to Sicheng, but he didn't know why. His throat also tightened and he could speak, and he found himself incredibly nervous; all the symptoms he had when he had a crush on Tzuyu.
"Do you?" Jaehyun interrupted Mark's thoughts and the shorter boy just hugged his Rilakkuma plushie tightly, digging his cheek into the side of the bear's face. Jaehyun squinted. "I take that as a no."
"Look, there's Mandu over there!" Mark abruptly changed the subject and pointed to a food stand, making Jaehyun sigh. "Can one of you guys buy me one? I ran out of money." He looked at either boy and they exchanged looks.
"I'll buy him one." Sicheng smiled at Jaehyun and he nodded.
"Alrighty, then. I'm gonna go find Jeno, so I'll text you guys where I'm at." He placed his hands in his pant pockets and began walking ahead of the two boys until he was gone, leaving Mark and Sicheng alone.
"You know..." Mark began, trying to make their situation less awkward, and Sicheng looked down at the top of the blonde's head. "You're pretty good at Korean, I don't understand why Mr. Wang said that you needed help--you're better than me." He laughed and so did Sicheng.
The Chinese boy blushed a bit and waved his in front of himself. "Ah, no. I'm pretty bad Korean speaking." A shy smile rose on his face as they approached the Mandu stand.
Mark couldn't stop smiling no matter how hard he tried to stop--it just wouldn't go away.
As Sicheng bought Mark's Mandu, his eyes found Donghyuck in the crowd of people with his friends. Donghyuck's eyes met Mark's for a split second before Mark looked away, linking his arm with Sicheng's and began looking around the Mandu stand.
Sicheng stiffened when he felt Mark's arm link with his, but he calmed down and smiled shortly after. He grabbed the Mandu from the food vendor and thanked her while bowing slightly.
Mark's arm didn't leave Sicheng's as they searched for a place to sit. Since there were no open seats around the carnival, they traveled uphill on one of the hills that surrounded the carnival and found a comfortable and quiet seat in the grass, looking down at all of the bright, warm colored lights coming from the carnival.
Mark took his arm from Sicheng's and took the small styrofoam bowl from him as well, thanking him for buying the food.
Sicheng just smiled and focused his eyes on the bustling carnival happening below, while Mark broke apart his chopsticks and took one of the Mandu--taking a large bite.
"I heard they were going to shoot fireworks." Mark broke the silence through a mouthful of food. Sicheng's dark eyes widened with excitement. "Really?" He asked, moving his head to look at the blonde.
Mark nodded. "We should stay up here, then. We could get a better view of them."
Sicheng got even more excited. "Ah, you're right!" He said enthusiastically, laying himself down on the soft grass. Mark placed his already finished bowl of food beside him and laid fown as well, next to Sicheng, of course. He felt Sicheng shift closer to him, making the blonde's heart swell.
Mark's phone suddenly vibrated with a new notification and he assumed that it was Jaehyun. He brought his phone from his pocket and turned it on, the bright screen lighting up his and Sicheng's rather dark area just a tiny bit.
jaehyun: where are you guys at ?????

"There you are, Jeno!" Jaehyun jogged up to Jeno and his friends, lightly pushing through thr crowd. A smile beamed on Jeno's pale face as he waved to Jaehyun.
They greeted each other, then Jeno noticed that Sicheng and Mark weren't at his sides. "Where are Mark and Sicheng?" The black haired boy asked. Donghyuck-- who was standing behind Jeno, peeked above his elder's shoulder, looking at Jaehyun, who didn't seem to notice him.
"Mark said they're on one of the hills over there, waiting for the fireworks." The tall boy pointed to the large hills that stood behind the busy food stands. Donghyuck's ears perked up at the sound of that new information.
"Uh, guys, I'm gonna go use the bathroom." Donghyuck told Renjun and Chenle and excused himself from the group. But, he wasn't going to the restroom; he was going to find Mark, instead.
