"Dude, Mark; why are you going so fast? Me and Haechan can't keep up with you!" Jaehyun complained as Mark speed walked past the school gates, throwing his breakfast trash away at a nearby garbage can.
Mark didn't reply to his friend's question. Instead, he just rolled his eyes and made his way into the school building.
He was only able to walk a few steps inside before he was stopped by the school's councilor, Mr. Wang.
"Mark Lee, yes?" He asked the boy, and Mark quickly straightened up, putting a smile on his face. Jaehyun and Donghyuck observed what was happening from a distance, sneakily moving their way inside the school to get a better view of what was going on.
"Yes, Mr. Wang. That's me." His voice cracked, making his cheeks go red.
The older man chuckled and motioned for the boy to come with him. "Come, Mr. Lee; I have to talk to you about something." He told him and Mark quickly nodded, nervously walking behind Mr. Wang.
"What's up with that?" Haechan muttered.
Jaehyun shrugged. "I don't know, he's never been called into the councilor's office before." He turned to face Donghyuck and tugged on his school shirt. "We should follow him; see what's up. He's been acting strange all morning; maybe this has something to do with it?"
Donghyuck nodded in agreement and the two walked a reasonable distance behind Mr. Wang and Mark, staying out of sight of the two until they reached Mr. Wang's office.
Mr. Wang held the door open for Mark who thanked him and bowed, entering the small office. When he did, he was greeted by a boy with chocolate brown hair, tan skin, soft eyes and an adorable and shy smile. He was sitting in one of the chairs in front of Mr. Wang's desk, and he had no school uniform on.
Mark muttered an 'uh...' and looked back at Mr. Wang, who was closing the door behind him and then walking to his desk.
"Please, sit down, Mark." Mr. Wang insisted, pointing to the only other open chair which was next to the boy.
The blonde nodded and slowly took a seat, his heart pounding from how nervous he was.
Mr. Wang clasped his hands together and placed them on top of his desk, his eyes darting between the two boys, then settling on Mark.
"Mark, this is Dong Sicheng. He's a foreign exchange student from China. He's staying in Korea and will be going to this school for the rest of the school year." The older man informed Mark, gesturing his hand over to the foreign exchange boy.
Mark's dark brown eyes moved to look at Sicheng and he smiled a bit, waving his hand. Sicheng smiled back as well, waving his hand and bowing a bit in his seat.
"He's in the same year as you, so I decided you would be the best choice for him." Mr. Wang said, making Mark snap his head back to face his elder.
"Best choice for what?"
"He's not fluent in Korean and has trouble with a lot of communication because of this. I think you're responsible enough to take him under your wing. You know, show him around, help him during classes, and teach him new Korean phrases or words." The man explained. He then turned to face Sicheng and explained to him something in Chinese that Mark assumed to be the same thing Mr. Wang just told him, as he heard his name once or twice and the boy looked at Mark and gave him a thumbs up. Mark gave him one back, smiling a bit.
"So, are you willing to help him?" Mr. Wang tilted his head to the side
Mark pursed his lips as he thought for a second, then puckered them outwards. "Sure, why not." He shrugged, a small smile appearing on his face.
Sicheng clapped his hands together in excitement and thanked Mark. "You're gonna make my school life way easy." He told him, and Mark chuckled at his broken word.
"Great! Now, I'll let you boys get to your classes; the bell is about the ring." Mr. Wang shooed the boys away and they both stood up and walked out of the councilor's office.
Jaehyun scared Mark to the point where he was pretty sure his heart stopped for a second as the tall blonde appeared in front of him saying,"Hey, Mark! What was that all about?" Rather loudly. Mark clenched his chest from being frightened.
"Who is he?" Haechan asked curiously, peeking over Jaehyun’s shoulder and pointing at Sicheng. The chocolate haired boy blushed a bit and moved behind Mark to hide himself, but he was taller than the bot so it was pointless.
Mark avoided both of the boys' eyes as he introduced Sicheng. "Him? Uh, his name is Sicheng...from China. He's a foreign exchange student. I'm supposed to help him communicate or whatever."
Donghyuck made an 'O' shape with his lips and went to Sicheng's side, bowing and saying hello in Chinese. Sicheng said hello back as well as some other Chinese phrases that Donghyuck couldn't understand, so he replied with 'yes', which made Sicheng laugh.
Mark scoffed at Donghyuck, and grabbed Sicheng's small hand. "C'mon, Sicheng. We don't want to be late to class now, do we?" He forced a smile and the two walked away from Jaehyun and Haechan.
"Mark looked annoyed." Haechan muttered. "Was it because of us?" He looked over at Jaehyun, tilting his head.
Jaehyun laughed. "Of course not! I'm his best friend! And you...should get going to class! Neither of us want to be late." Jaehyun looked at the time on a nearby clock on top of the councilor's office door, his eyes widening at how little time they had.
Donghyuck's eyes widened as well, and the two began racing to their respective classrooms.
