Haechan was sort of grossed out about how sweaty Mark's hands were getting, but he just figured that the boy was nervous as he had a worried look spread across his face. Was it because what Haechan had told him the night of the carnival? Was he...jealous? Jealous that Jaehyun and Sicheng were alone together?
"Mark...?" Haechan spoke up as they reached the top of the stairs and turning at a corner. "Why do you seem so...tense?"
Mark sighed, holding on to Haechan's hand even tighter, making the smaller boy wince. He couldn't hide the fact that Mark liked Sicheng in front of Haechan, could he? Haechan already knew that they kissed at the carnival, so there was no doubt about it.
The blonde wasn't answering, so Donghyuck decided to answer for him. "...Are you jealous?" He softly asked.
"I-I am not." Mark tripped over his words. "I can't be jealous of someone when I already have a girlfriend." He sputtered. The word "girlfriend" rolled off his tongue irregularly, as he never used such words for a person.
Haechan's dark eyes widened. "...Girlfriend?" He questioned. So that's why Tzuyu was talking to him--she asked Mark out...and Mark said yes?
Mark glanced back at Haechan who looked as if he witnessed a horror scene, and regretted what he had said. Both boys were confusing each other with their feelings for one another, as well as other people.
"I-I mean, she's not my girlfriend. We're just gonna...hang out." He tried lifting Haechan's spirit, but the boy stayed the same. Mark let go of the boy's hand and tried to awkwardly laugh the situation off. "Oh, look--there's Sicheng and Jaehyun, aha!" He pointed at the end of the hallway where the two taller boys were standing, talking to each other. "Hey~!" He called out to them, completely ignoring the situation he was in eith Donghyuck, making the younger male pout.
Jaehyun and Sicheng turned to look at Mark and Haechan at the end of the hall. However, when Sicheng's eyes met with Mark's, he quickly looked away. He also whispered something to Jaehyun that Mark clearly couldn't hear, as he was on the other side of the hallway. Then, Sicheng took off, making Mark raise a confused eyebrow.
The blonde walked up to Jaehyun, the shorter brunette trailing behind him. "Why did he leave?" Mark asked Jae, tilting his head in curiosity.
Jae shrugged. "He told me that he had to get home before his parents got angry." He looked over at Haechan who was killing his boredom by texting Chenle, then turned back to Mark. "What about you? What did Tzuyu say?"
Haechan's ears perked up at the sound of Tzuyu's name leaving Jaehyun’s lips, but still pretended to be occupied by his phone.
Mark sighed. "I didn't expect her to be like this, Jae. She's moving too fast!"
"This sounds like every basic drama that I've seen." Jaehyun laughed. "You could be an actor, you know."
"I'm being serious, Jae." The blonde puffed up his cheeks. "She told me that her parents already know about us!"
"Yikes is all that I can say. I don't know what you should do, buddy. Sorry." Jae shrugged, patting Mark's back.
"You're right, why am I asking someone that's never been in a relationship?"
"Hey! Me and Taeyong held hands once last year!"
"That doesn't mean you're in a relationship!"
"Well you and Tzuyu haven't even gone on a first date, yet you guys are dating." He mumbled, and Mark had no come back. He was defeated.
Haechan slowly rose his head. "I think I have someone that's willing to help you!" He told Mark with a small smile. He knew that at this point he couldn't get Mark, so the next best thing would to help him as a friend, although they still have tension between them.
"Who?" Mark rose an eyebrow and turned his body slightly to face Donghyuck.
"My friend Johnny...he graduated with Taeyong last year."
Jae interrupted their conversation. "Johnny? Oh, I knew him."
"I didn't." Mark quietly added.
Haechan cleared his throat. "Well, he's really good with advice. He has a boyfriend, too, so you should go see him." He smiled.
"Ah, yeah! Mark, I could drive you over to his dorm--he's roommates with Taeyong so I know where he lives."
Mark scrunched up his nose slightly. He was unsure if he wanted to go to a stranger for advice, but at this point he trusted Haechan for the most part, and decided to take his word for it. "I mean...I guess?" He shrugged. "...But I want both of you guys to come with me; I don't want to be alone over there."
"Okay, then~" Haechan chirped. "I'll ask Johnny if we can go over there after school tomorrow." He said, and Mark nodded.
Haechan said his goodbyes to the boys and strolled off, looking down at his phone.
"Who is Johnny dating, I wonder?" Jaehyun thought out loud, and Mark puckered up his lips.
"How am I supposed to know? I don't even know the guy..."
