Haechan didn't appear at school for a week since his family went out of town, which made Mark have to wait even longer before they could actually meet face to face after they both confessed. They texted often--actually, they texted all the time, and they called each other when Mark got home from school.
His brother found out about their relationship after he had seen Mark's contact name which was 'my ugly and easily offended boyfriend 😊', then ran and told their parents. Everyone in Mark's family handled it well, and the same went for Haechan. Jeno was also the only friend of theirs that knew about their relationship; he told Mark that Haechan had told him what was going on.
Jeno had also told him that it was Donghyuck's birthday on the day he would arrive back at school.
"What does Haechan like? I'm awful with gifts..." Mark shyly stated to Jeno over the phone, looking at the store items. It was the weekend before Donghyuck's birthday, and Mark was buying all thr things that he needed; one of them was Haechan's gift.
"Haechan? Um..." Jeno went silent for a while, then snapped his fingers from a eureka moment. "Ah! He likes making music. He sings a lot, writes songs, dances, and stuff like that. He also plays guitar."
Mark's expression dulled. "What would I get for him, then?" He leaned against one of the shelves, nearly causing the contents that sat on it to fall.
"I don't know? He also likes Shin-chan and that kpop group...what are they called? SHINEe?"
"You should've said that earlier." Mark sighed. He began walking out of the store, Jeno still on the phone.
"Where are you going now? I heard you leaving..."
"There's a store that sells kpop stuff nearby; I go to it a lot."
Jeno giggled. "I never knew you were a fan of that stuff."
Mark's cheeks went pink. "I-it's not funny..."

Mark had texted Haechan the morning in which he would return, to meet him in the cafeteria. Not many people were there in the morning, so Mark figured that would be the best place to set up what he had planned.
"Mark Lee!" Donghyuck's familiar voice echoed through the cafeteria, and the brunette turned around to see the boy running towards him. He ran up to him and instead of giving him a hug (which Mark expected), he pushed him out of the way to see the items that sat on the cafeteria table.
Mark couldn't help but smile as he watched Haechan's face become as bright as the sun.
Donghyuck turned his head to Mark, his dark eyes sparkling. "Where did you get-" he pointed at the blue balloons,"square balloons!?" He asked, his voice being very high pitched.
Mark decided to stay quiet as Donghyuck admired the balloons, then his eyes fell onto a very neatly wrapped present box; thanks to Mark's mom, and a cupcake with the famous Shin-chan on it...also thanks to Mark's mom.
If it was even possible, Haechan's face became brighter. He grabbed the box first, examining it's perfectly cubed shape. He felt bad for opening it, but by the look of Mark's smiling face, the brunette wanted him to.
Inside there was two SHINEe albums: 1 of 1 and Odd.
"I'm crying." Was all Haechan said, as he was too awestruck. So awestruck that he was literally crying.
Mark's face went from happiness to worry. "Haechan, why are you crying?" His furrowed his brows.
The boy wiped the tears that were on the verge of falling from his eyes, and looked at Mark while gripping onto the albums like his life depended on them. "Because they're ...so beautiful."
"Oh..." Mark held back a laugh. He patted Haechan's shoulder, smiling softly. "Well, happy birthday." He told him. "This is all for your birthday and me apologizing for how much of a jerk I was before."
Haechan smiled, his bright teeth showing and his eyes scrunching up. He placed the albums back in their box and playfully punched Mark's arm. "Thanks." He said and picked up his cupcake. "This is all too pretty-- how did you even get permission to bring this stuff onto school grounds?"
"I'm Mr. Wang's favorite student." A cheeky smile appeared on Mark's face, and Donghyuck burst into laughter.
Mark helped his boyfriend carry his balloons and presents around school, while Haechan just held onto the cupcake and wore a paper crown that Jisung had given him.
"You better take care of these square balloons; they were expensive."
"I'll pop them on purpose, just to make you mad."
Mark gave Haechan a cold glare. "If you do that I'm returning your albums.
"Nevermind I'm sorry!" The boy pretended to cry, then both boys broke into a giggle fit.
