Lyra closed her eyes as she felt him poking her in the back. Her breath seemed trapped in her chest as he moved her hair exposing her neck and whispered in her ear.
"I don't like my food burned," He laughed softly.
She turned off the stove and removed the pan from the heat before removing his hands from her.
"Then stop distracting me." She said as she pushed passed him to check the clothes in the dryer.
Lyra could hear him laughing all the way in the laundry room in the basement. She beat herself up for being so easily taken in. She knew he was a flirt and had asshole potential; just from dealing with Larry. Why didn't she see that coming?
Because you thought playing with someone's emotions was beneath him, that's why.
Lyra couldn't deny her interest in him had grown. She figured he could tell and that was the reason why he was acting the way he was. Unfortunately she could also tell his feelings weren't the same as hers and she needed to accept that.
Sex with him would probably be amazing. Are you okay with just having sex with him? No, that would be a disaster. Well the repercussions of it just being that between us would be. One sided attractions suck!
She schooled her face into something she hoped didn't betray her disappointment as she returned to her apartment with Laurent's dry clothes. After handed him his clothes she finished cooking. Disparately trying to act like she wasn't frustrated by his actions and her reactions. She would finish making a meal for her friend, just her friend nothing more.
He's just my friend. He is a friend. We are just friends. I am his friend. Just friends.
They ate and he complained about the eery quiet in her house; she knew he was talking her lack of television. It wasn't his first time complaining and since she got local news on her phone, she wasn't going to waste money buying a tv when she wouldn't be watching it. So she just nodded but didn't say anything. Her brain chanting until the only thought in her mind was...
We're just friends.
While Lyra stood to clear the table, Laurent grabbed her arm and pulled her into his lap. Lyra sighed giving him a bored stare.
"What's wrong?" He asked with a frown.
"Nothing." She responded trying to get up but he held held in place. "Was there something else?" She raised her eyebrow, looking him into his eyes. The chanting in her brain stuttered. Lyra quickly realized that making eye contact was a huge mistake. His eyes were deep enough to get lost in.
Maybe a sexual relationship wouldn't be the worse thing...
Her body warmed and her stomach fluttered. Her heart stuttered and she wished she didn't feel the way she did. There was no doubt in that moment he was attracted to her but he never said anything about a relationship.
So you better make up your mind. Quickly! Is this what you want?
He was nonverbally clear, he was only offering one thing. Sex. Lyra's body wasn't opposed to the offer, it been years since she had been with anyone. Partly because she didn't trust anyone to get that close after what happened with Alejandro.
Laurent grabbed her throat pulling her into a kiss. She definitely felt strong desire when he did and she didn't resist the kiss but she didn't return it either. Her mind gaining some control at the thought of a purely sexual situation with a friend.
Would that be so bad? Yes. You know you aren't built like that. Sex with out emotions has never been something you could do. You need to intimacy and this... is not going to work.
