Lyra closed her eyes, content that he had his arm around her as she finally drifted off to sleep. She worried she did a lot more than she probably should have and may not be able to move again for a few days.
It was all worth it to be back in Laurent's arms.
~~~
Larry yawned and rubbed his eyes as he made his way to the bathroom. He splashed some water on his face and brushed his teeth. After he changed clothes, he went to get breakfast. He yawned from the time he waited in line until he returned to Lyra’s room. He quietly putting the food down on the table then quietly walked over to wake Laurent to eat while the food was hot.
He shook Laurent's shoulder to wake him, causing Lyra to slightly slide off his brother’s chest. She immediately snuggled back into her previous position.
“She moved!” Larry yelled startling his brother awake.
“The doctor say movements…” Laurent mumbled sleepily as he finally noticed Lyra’s heavy leg on him.
“You turn her? Move her leg on you?” Larry retorted.
“No, I-” Laurent started to sit up but Lyra had a tight hold on his shirt now and refused to be dislocated from his chest again. “Lire? Mon amour?” He said softly while lightly touching her sleeping face.
“No,” she whimpered.
“You sleep too much!” Larry’s loud voice made her open one eye.
Lyra slowly opened her other eye enough to scowl at Larry.
“Stop barking Fido!” Lyra forced out, tried to clear her throat then started coughing violently. Larry smiled.
“Get a doctor!” Laurent told his brother. “Lire, bébé, you okay?”
“Dry.” Lyra held her throat.
“And some water!” Laurent yelled to his brother.~~~
Larry and Laurent ate as the doctor poked, prodded and asked Lyra a lot of questions. Lyra fussed about him poking her then started swatting at the doctor’s hands when he didn’t stop. The doctor didn’t appreciate her attitude but seemed encouraged with Lyra’s verbal responses and mental clarity.
Lyra was happy when the doctor left her alone. She propped herself up as Laurent laid down beside her. She could see Larry in the corner on his phone. She tried to get some more water until her tea with honey arrived but she was having some coordination troubles. Larry hung up then help hold Lyra's shaky hands as she poured water into the cup.
“Hi.” He smiled sitting beside her.
“Hi?” Lyra said softly, then sipped some water.
“You sleep too much.” He frowned.
“Don’t tell me you were worried?” Lyra replied light-heartedly then placed her hand on his when he briefly frowned.
“No, why you think I care?” Larry turned away.
“Sorry, I hit my head. I must have confused you with someone else. Someone who told me they needed me to irritate and piss them off,” Lyra smiled then whispered as he glanced back. “I am sorry I worried you.”~~~
The next morning, Lyra was sitting on the side of the bed. Laurent’s head was resting in her lap facing on her stomach with his arms wrapped around her. She gingerly picked up her cup, waiting for the doctor to make his rounds, and hopefully tell her that she can leave soon.
“You missed your flight to France didn't you?” She asked holding the tea cup with both hands.
Larry shrugged biting her toast before putting it back.
“You did… I’m sorry.” She wiped her face with her left hand. “Larry do you know who has my ring?” She said a little too loudly making Laurent stir a little but not enough to wake up.
“It safe. Lau have it.” Larry whispered.
“He hasn't been sleeping well has he?” She smiled sadly at him.
“No.” Larry replied and Lyra notice Larry didn't look rested either.
“Thank you for helping take care of me but you don't have to stay.” Lyra smiled a little. Larry looked away from her.
“Aw, you are still worried about me.” She smiled wider.
