"Please baby, I know I messed up, but I will treat you better than anyone ever has, please?" Christopher reached towards her. "I'm divorced now and- and she lost the baby." He took a shaky breathe. "I promise to love you forever. I will buy you everything your heart desires, please give me one more chance. I promise you won't regret it. I still love you so much!" He reached out to her.

Lyra clenched her jaw trying not to explode. There was a high pitched whining in her ears and her brain was drifting to locations of local pig farms and catfish ponds.

"You don't know the meaning of love! She didn't lose the baby, you killed her in the car accident! You killed your unborn daughter!" She seethed. "It was a miracle that Felicity wasn't kill too! You only care about yourself! And I want nothing to do with you!"

Ashlie placed her hands on Lyra's shoulders making her aware she was literally shaking. Lyra cleared her now sore throat and spoke in a quieter voice.

"Don't come near me! Don't try to talk to me and never show your face to me again for as long as you draw breath!" She eyeballed his hand stuck in mid-air until he dropped it.

Ashlie wrapped her arm around Lyra's shoulders. "Goodbye, Christopher," Ashlie said steering Lyra away.
"Goodbye." Chris said.

February

Larry knew Laurent was stressed. He was stressed as well, this was the longest they had gone without work since they started. They were able to win a few battles now and then but the money ran out fast. If business didn't improve soon they would have to stop dancing and get regular jobs. Jobs that wouldn't let them keep the lifestyle they had grown accustomed to living.

They tried doing any job that paid; private parties, charity events, fashion shows and appearances anywhere that would have them. It was like they were starting all over and the stress was a lot more than either of them remembered.

Which was one of the reasons why Larry was spending a lot of time with Alissa Faun, a vapid brunette hostess with no domesticated skills but that could bend like a pretzel. (She didn't clean, sew, do laundry or cook.)

Alissa could be irritating and whiny at times however; she let Larry use her body any way he wants, as much as he wants, any time that he wants.

Larry noticed Laurent was in a bad mood more often than normal. When he asked Laurent if he was okay, Laurent told him he was still waiting to hear back from someone.

"You visit Lyra for Valentine?" Larry asked.
"She work a project." Laurent replied glancing at his brother.
"She no make time for you?" Larry frowned.
"Her job busy." Laurent sat in a chair. "I offer for bring her for dinner, but she tell me not be in Europe."

The truth was Lyra consistently but politely declined all of his invitations; dinners, concerts, holiday celebrations and anything else he tried.

"You spend Valentine with someone else." Larry replied.
"No, Maman and I may go out." Laurent said.

Larry called Lyra to tell her off.

"Bonjour." Lyra answered.
"First you make him sad for his birthday. You busy on Christmas and New Year's. Now you leave him alone on Valentines!"

She sat silently until she was sure he finished.

"Why aren't you happy I'm not spending as much time with Laurent? You did plenty to make sure I knew you don't want me with him." Lyra replied.
"You hurt my brother!" Larry fussed.
"You would think this is my fault." Lyra replied then hung up.
