I dreamt that I was on the verge of finally solving the murder mystery of Jason Blossoms death. I don't remember much, just that my parents were involved. Somehow they were trying to kill Polly and her baby, but I managed to step in and I took the blade for her. Even though it was all a dream, I felt vulnerable and as if I couldn't move, my feet had frozen. I collapsed on the ground, knife still in my chest. I saw my parents stab Jason and Polly to death. I was useless and couldn't do anything.
I awoke bolted upright, in a sweat. I was breathing heavily and couldn't stop crying. Suddenly, I felt arms wrap around me.
"Shhhh. It's ok, Bets. I'm here," the smooth voice said, as they held me from behind and continuously stroked my hair. I turned around and buried my face into their chest and couldn't stop sobbing. "Shhh. It's ok."
I just kept sobbing and sobbing. It was a good five minutes before I calmed down.
"Are you ready to talk about it yet?" The voice said in a gentle whisper. I nodded into their chest and then pulled away to face them. There he was. My perfect boyfriend. His dark soft curls in a jumbled mess from the night before. He had a genuinely concerned look written across his face. He looked different in the morning without his signature grey beanie, or his tshirt. For a guy who liked to eat a lot, Juggie sure had a close-enough six pack and it was nice to look at.
I took a deep breath in.
"It all felt so real. I... i tried to protect Polly from them...," my voice broke. "But I couldn't. Not from them." I couldn't hold it in any longer. I busted out into tears. Juggie put both of his hands on my cheeks and wiped away my tears.
"Betty, Baby, look at me." I faltered, but eventually looked Up at those soft blue eyes of his. "Betty, nothing bad is going to happen to Polly. I'll make sure of that. We'll make sure of that." He cracked a half-grin at me and pulled me against his bare chest.
"I know, Juggie. I'm just... I'm really scared that it could be them." I stated. Honestly, all the fingers pointed to my parents. They had a rift with the Blossoms since the beginning of time. Plus, my father didn't want anyone to know that Polly was pregnant with Jason's child. "Also.. I don't know where Polly and the baby are and I'm seriously worried about them." Jughead went back to stroking my hair.
"I know, Bets. I know. We're gonna find her. We're super sleuths remember?" He slightly chuckled and I felt the movement of his laughter. "Now. I hate to ruin this moment, and getting up from bed just in general, but we should probably get ready for school. Plus... I don't want your parents barging in here while I'm in your bed. That's a straight up death sentence."
I jolted upright and glared at him with my arms crossed.
"Okay but that's not even funny." I said with the best pouty face that I could put on. He just laughed rather loudly. Then quickly covered his mouth. "They're gonna hear you if youre not quiet!" I whisper-yelled. Then i jumped on him, pushing him on the bed, and put my hands over his mouth too. I laid on top of him for a minute, my hands over his mouth still, both of us staring at each other with those googly eyes that lovers have. Underneath my hands, I could feel the smile growing on Jugheads face. Eventually, he removed my hands and kissed me gently.
"Sorry. That was a bit uncalled for." He apologized.
"Apology accepted." I leaned down and kissed him again. "But only if you help me find Polly and sort this whole thing out. Otherwise I'm totally gonna have them murder you." He had a look of surprise written on his face.
"Wait a minute, that's not fair! How come you get to make all the murder jokes about your parents?" I smiled like an idiot and rolled my eyes.
"Because they're my parents, ya Goofball."
