Christmas quickly came and went. As I had suspected, JJ wasn't really phased by it since he was just a month old. Veronica bought me a cute little lace black nightgown for my wedding night. Real subtle, Ronnie. Cheryl bought me some red maple lipstick. It was ok, but not really my style. I was surprised that Cheryl bought me anything at all to be quite honest. Archie gave me a demo cd of his..... but he also gave this to everyone. How special. Lastly, Jughead bought me the most amazing wedding ring. Throughout all of the chaos of the past few months, I had completely forgotten about getting a ring. But thankfully, Jughead had remembered for me. It was full of beautiful diamonds that were in a rose shape. It was perfect. Just like my Jughead was.
Before we knew it, it was the evening of the wedding rehearsal. Only the immediate family and bridal party were invited. So, in other words, just Archie, Veronica, Cheryl, Baby JJ, Jellybean, and Mrs. Jones. All the other parents were in jail. It was so weird going over everything. We practiced going down the aisle, what was to be said, exchanging of the rings, everything. And we have to do it for real all over again tomorrow.
After the rehearsal, we went out to Pop's for the rehearsal dinner. Who doesn't love a good burger and a milkshake? I was sat next to Jughead, with his arm slung over me, and Baby JJ in my arms. Mrs. Jones and Jellybean sat across from us. Meanwhile, the other three were sitting in a booth behind the Joneses.
"I'm so excited that you two are getting married," Mrs. Jones stated, reaching for Jughead's hand across the table. "But, I will admit, it's all very um... sudden. So I'm going to be honest, I'm quite surprised. But... a good surprised." She smiled at us. Jughead laughed nervously.
"Um... yeah it was pretty sudden. But I'm glad that Betty and I are getting married. And... that you approve." He smirked at his mom, as he gently rubbed his thumb back and forth on her hand. Tears started coming to her eyes.
"My baby boy is going to be a married man." She wiped a tear off of her gorgeous face and chuckled. Jellybean sat next to her, giving her a weird look.
"Mom, you're totally overreacting." She joked and rolled her eyes. "I'm SO EXCITED to be an aunt!" Jellybean exclaimed, with her hands out in front of her, almost like jazzhands. It shocked me how much older she had looked since I'd seen her last. I couldn't believe that Jellybean was already ten! I remember her being the cute little toddler that we'd see playing on the playground. And I also remember her tagging along on our adventures sometimes. She meant the world to Jughead. And I loved that. Their bond was so special and unique, especially with there being a six year age difference.
"Well, technically it's Polly's baby." Jughead awkwardly corrected.
"Yes, but we're raising him, so he's technically our child, thus, Jellybean's nephew." I explained, slightly frustrated at Jughead.
"Well, yeah. But like... you didn't give birth to him and I was just clarifying that with them." Jughead defended himself.
"Yes. But still. He's practically our son." I was getting kind of mad. Yes, JJ was my sister's child, but he's also essentially my son. And, yes, he might not be blood related to Jellybean, but he was essentially her nephew too. JJ would grow up with Jellybean in his life, as his aunt. I was trying so hard to not appear ticked off, after all this was the rehearsal dinner of our wedding.
"Hey guys!" Veronica said as she, Archie, and Cheryl walked over from their booth. "So, I think we're gonna head home for the night. So Cheryl and I will be at your place, and then Juggiekins is spending the night at Archie's right?"
