We had entered into Dilton's garage with Sabrina.
"Alright, you guys have to figure out a cure before the outbreak happens," I demanded. I was so angry that all of this had happened. And on the night of Polly's baby shower nonetheless!
"Wow! It's Sabrina the 'teenage witch,'" Reggie joked. Moose laughed along with him. I hit him on the arm. They both looked at me as if they couldn't believe that I could be mean.
"Stop joking around guys! This is serious!" I yelled. "Ok, Dilton, Sabrina, Sabrina, Dilton." They shook hands and got to work.
"Well, I clearly messed up the spell...," Sabrina started.
"Hmmm.. can we combine magic and science?" Dilton suggested. I always forgot how short Dilton was. But compared to Sabrina, he was a dwarf. Oh well, at least his IQ is way higher than his height.
"Possibly. Can you help me to figure out this spell?" Sabrina asked, bringing out a spellbook from her bag and showing it to him. "Here." She pointed in the book. "This is what I was trying to do."
"Hmmmm. Seems very plausible that we could do this with magic and science. Betty, Jughead," Dilton started. "I need you two to find two frogs. Reggie and Moose, I need you to find several mushrooms."
"Is that all of the ingredients that you need for the spell?" Jughead asked quizzically.
"Well, we need to mix the ingredients with a few chemicals, which, thankfully I already have in my lab." Dilton said proudly, as if he knew his chemistry set would eventually come in handy. "Also, Sabrina has to cast the 'Living Dead' spell. But in theory, my plan should work."
"Alright. Let's go guys," Jughead said, "Break!" We both ran off into the woods to find two frogs.
"Literally any frogs? How hard could that be?" I asked.
"Guess we'll find out." Jughead replied.
"I can't believe all of this has happened, Juggie," I said, continuing my running pace. "And especially on Polly's night. Like who does that?"
"Well, we can't worry about that right now, we have to find a cure before all hell breaks loose," Juggie reminded me.
"I know... it's just... I also went off on Kevin. Like really badly tonight...and I never got to apologize." I stopped in my tracks, tears threatening to fall from my eyes. "Juggie, he's one of my best friends... and I...I yelled at him over something ridiculous. He didn't even mean anything by his comment, but I was done and fed up with everyone asking why we're still virgins. And if he... if he dies..." I started crying right there, in the middle of the woods.
"Hey, hey, hey Bets," Juggie said in a calm voice. He rushed over to me and threw his arms around my head. I instinctively leaned into his chest. "You shouldn't have to justify your right to stay a virgin all the time. He probably deserved that, along with everyone else who's ever prodded you about it. And yes, maybe it was a bad way to end things with him, but you couldn't have known that this was going to happen, Babe. You couldn't. And hey, once we get this potion thing all figured out, you can apologize to him. And then we can chew everyone else out for mocking us." He moved his hands to my face and gently directed my face to stare directly into his. "Ok, Bets?" He was pulling the cutest half-smile ever. I nodded and gently kissed his lips. "Alright. Time to find some-"
*CRASH*
We both abruptly turned our heads to see the three zombie freaks had broken out of the madhouse. I hadn't even noticed that we had wandered so far into the woods that we were already by the abandoned park. Juggie and I stood silently in the shadows of the woods, hoping that the zombies wouldn't notice us. Zombie Kevin cautiously sniffed the air, while Zombie Cheryl was trying to adjust Zombie Jason's tie. Zombie Jason swatted her hand away. I guess when you're a zombie, you don't really care what you look like. Well, unless you're Cheryl Blossom. My eyes slowly turned to look at Jughead. With my eyes only, I silently asked him, "ummm, yeah. What do we do now?"
