I felt like I was in a nightmare and couldn't wake up, and this time I couldn't save Polly. The world around me was nonexistent. I was shaking and crying and couldn't control myself. I'm 99% sure that Jughead was holding me, talking to me, but I didn't hear what he was saying. My entire world was slowly breaking down. It wasn't until hours later that I realized I had fallen asleep. I sat upright and tried to gather my surroundings. I had my hands on Jughead's lap pushing myself up, where my head must've been laying only a moment before. I scanned the room I was in. I was in the hospital waiting room. There were too many around me to count. Most of them had their clothes torn up quite a lot, and scratches. Veronica was there, Archie was sitting next to her, arm around her shoulders. Cheryl was crying her heart out. Reggie and Moose sat silently next to each other. Where was Kevin? Jason? The baby?
"Guys?" I spoke. My voice was hoarse. Everyone looked over to me. "Where's Baby JJ?" Veronica walked over and crouched down in front of me, gently grabbing my hands.
"He's doing fine. Since he was 8 weeks early, he's going to be in the NICU for a few days. He was a little underweight. But he's fine. I promise." She reassured me, with a smile and a hug. "It's is going to be ok." She whispered. She hugged me for a long time before I finally felt the need to let go. I looked over at Jughead and started crying again. He quickly wrapped his arms around me, my tears staining his once nice, red sweater. Now his sweater was torn to shreds.
"Hey, on the brightside, Dilton said that the virus is completely out of Riverdale. Betty, you and Jughead saved the day. And probably the entire world," Archie smiled. All of our friends stood up and clapped for us. More tears came to my eyes.
"But...but I-I... I didn't save Polly." I broke down. Jughead held me even closer to him.
"You did the best that you could, Betty." He whispered softly into my ear, then kissed the side of my forehead.
"But... but I could have saved her. If we had gotten to Sabrina sooner! She could have been safe. She wouldn't have gone through so much pain."
"She would've gone through pain anyways, Bets. And you don't know that for sure. She could've easily died under the doctor's care, too." He tried to comfort me. "Do you..do you want to meet Jason Jr.?" I wiped my tears away, as best as I could and nodded. "Ok. Let's go meet him, then." He kissed my forehead, then slowly helped me up. I held on tightly to his arm as we walked throughout the hospital hallways. Eventually, we came up to the window and saw a bunch of babies. There, the small little boy with a full set of dark hair, was my nephew, Jason Blossom Jr. A tear shed from my eye. "You saved him, Betty. You saved him from all of those zombies. You helped bring him into the world. You're forever his hero." Jughead reminded me. I nodded slowly, then looked Jughead directly in the eyes.
"Thank you for being here for me, Juggie. I owe you the world." I softly kissed him on the lips. We both smiled, as we pulled away. Then, in the blink of an eye, Jughead got down on one knee.
"Betty Cooper. You don't owe me anything. You're my world. You're my person. I would do anything for you. I'd die for you. I'll protect you through anything. And I can promise you that I'll always love you. Will you do the honor of....marrying me?" Jughead asked, a tiny smirk written on his face. I nodded furiously and Jughead stood up and kissed me.
"I'll always love you too, Juggie," I replied between kisses. We heard cheering behind us. I turned around and saw the whole gang behind us. Then I blushed. "Oh no. This is awkward. You guys saw all of that?" I laughed.
"Oh yeah. Good thing I recorded it. Now you'll have it forever, Doll." Veronica smirked and held the camera out to show me. I hugged her.
"Haha thanks for recording it. And thanks again for being here. And helping with Polly and-"
