A week had gone by since Veronica discovered my not-so-little secret. She was pretty good at keeping it though. This was week 6. Jughead and I had a doctor's appointment to make sure that everything was going well. The doctor said, so far so good. I was finally able to stomach most foods. The nausea wasn't nearly as bad as it had been. All was right in the world, or so it would seem.
"Hey, Bets?" Jughead asked me. We were laying in bed, tangled up in each other. Cheryl was watching JJ for the weekend.
"Yeah, Juggie?" I asked, as I cuddled closer to him.
"I want to... I want to get my GED before the baby comes." He replied.
"That's a great idea, Juggie. We should both do it." I exclaimed excitedly. "We gotta at least be high school graduates before the baby comes."
"I know... also..." Jughead cleared his throat. I sat up straight and looked at him concerned.
"What is it, Jug?" I gently tilted his chin up so that he would look at me.
"I want to... get... a job." He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. "I know, I know we have a decent amount of funds now...but I want to be prepared and save some more. I mean, now we're going to have to pay for two colleges for the kids and two for ourselves. I'm getting a little worried." I moved away from Jughead to think for a minute. Jughead rubbed my back, as we both thought deeply about our money situation. He was right. Now that we've added another baby to the mix, money would become tighter.
"You're right. We're going to finally need an income." I shrugged. "But, I want one too." I nervously looked over to Jughead, worried about what he might say.
"Ok.... but maybe after the baby comes? I don't want you to work so hard and strain yourself, especially while you're pregnant." He placed a hand on my stomach, for emphasis. I nodded.
"Agreed. Plus, I'll still be super busy with JJ for the time being too I suppose."
"Maybe... maybe when the kids are older? Then you could get a job? I mean, first, I think you should be the one to go to college. I'll work, and you go to college." Jughead thought aloud. I cupped Jughead's face in my hands.
"Jughead," I said, raising an eyebrow. "You and I should both go to college at the same time. I'm not going by myself. You can get a job and go to college and I can watch the kids and go to college. Ok?"
"But, Bets, you said you wanted a job too?" Jughead replied.
"I mean... I do. It'd be nice. But not right now. Right now I need to focus on JJ and the baby. Then I'll work towards my degree in journalism. It'll all work out, baby." I kissed his lips. Jughead smirked.
"If you say so, Mrs. Jones." He whispered against my lips, then went back for seconds. So it was decided- Jughead and I were both going to get our GEDs before the baby came, Jughead was going to get a job, and then we would go to college. I almost felt like our life was in reverse of most people's. People typically go to college first and then start a family, but of course us Joneses had to be the exception.

"Ooh! Look at this one!" Veronica said, making a cute pouty face, as she held up a cute little pink tutu. "You'd better have a little girl, or I'm going to die." We laughed. Veronica had decided that we needed to have a "baby shopping day," even though we were still like 7 months away from the baby actually coming. We had pretty much scaled the entire Riverdale mall for all things baby and maternity. I was starting to get tired.
"Yeah. We still don't know the gender yet. It could be a boy." I shrugged.
"Ooh, what if it's twins?" Veronica exclaimed excitedly.
