Sickness in health

-A couple weeks pass-
It's been about two months since I lost my voice and now I have it back to a degree I just can't strain it. Since now we've decided to cut out all the flying harness bullshit for the smaller arenas for the last crusade tour well I don't have to worry about getting injured this time. I've been Skyping with Amy and Veronica since I left. She's just starting to raise her head up which is amazing in it's self. As me and the band walked to an acoustic session in Moose Jaw Matt looked over at me.
"Hey how's your voice?"
"It's fine Matt I just have to remember to not strain it." I softly smile at him as I tie my hair back into a pony tail.
"So what songs are we doing?"
I stopped for a second thinking.
"My heart is broken, Lithium, Who do you love, The change, uh...one love then Bring me to life. Does that sound good?"
"Yup now add like a solo for yourself."
"I've gave it some thought how about lost in paradise?"
"Yeah cause I don't think you can strain your voice that easy before tomorrow."
"And this is why I have you."
I put my arm over his shoulder walking into the place warming up a little pacing around. Then Royce nodded putting the set list by my piano.
"Let's get started guys and I just want to uh say...thank you for helping me with my recovery from the accident. I know this may sound cheesy but I probably wouldn't be here without you guys....just thank you for helping."
They all smiled at me and hugged me.
"Well we're all glad that you're still here."
"Okay let's do this enough of the sappy talk."
I walked out onto the stage as all of the fans screamed as I sat down playing my heart is broken.
"My heart is broken! Sweet sleep my dark angel....from sorrows hold!"
Then it came to lost in paradise as it's my turn to solo it.
"Before we move onto the solo I just want to say thank you to you guys for waiting until I was ready to start playing shows again and for sticking around when I was injured. SO THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH!"
I played the solo of this as my voice started cracking at the bridge as that was the point where my voice was starting to strain. But once that song was over I sat up on the chair as Matt came back out.
"So this next one I've been working on it well it's called the change."
I looked over at Matt and nodded.
"I've been screaming on the inside and I know you feel the pain! Can you hear me?! Can you hear me?! Say you love me but it's not enough!"
Okay my voice did crack a bit but I'm just getting back into it. When we did our songs and then bring me to life I dreaded this song. Mostly because I don't like it.
"Now that I know what I'm without you can't just leave me breathe into me and make me real. Bring me to life. Wake me up inside call my name and save me from the dark! Bid my blood to run and bring me to life....bring me to life....frozen inside without your touch without your love darling you are the life among the dead! Wake up inside...wake me up inside call my name and save me from the dark! Save me from the nothing I've become...bring me to life!" As I slam my hand on the keyboard.
"Finally that song is over and thank you so much for coming out today it really means a lot! Thank you and goodnight!"
We all stood up and walked backstage as I grabbed my phone and face timed Amy.
"Hey I saw your little show from a live stream. You okay?"
"Yeah I'm just a little bit home sick...that's all. How's my little princess?"
"Oh she's been loud all day like her father. But she's been sick since you've last called she's been throwing up everything I've fed her."
As I go pale as I know what it is.
"Amy it's not a sickness it's uh my disease....I read my chart and when I was just 7 months old I got rushed in from coughing up blood. So rush her in now. I'm getting on a plane to be there for you I think Melvin will understand."
"Josh wait just don't do anything stupid. I'll call you at the hospital."
She hung up as I got up grabbing my suit case from the bus.
"Josh what's going on?"
"It's Veronica Matt she has my disease I just knew this would happen..."
"I'll go tell Melvin for you and I'm coming with you. You'll need a friend during this just wait for me okay?"
I just nodded grabbing plane tickets from Regina to Vancouver just fearing for the worse.
