Demi began slowly pacing around her room, anxiety flowing through her veins. Katy and Destiny should have been back by now! What was talking so long?
"Seriously Demi! Could you please stop that pacing?" Shannon grumbled. "It's doing my head in!" Demi just rolled her eyes and carried on, ignoring Shannon.
"Ugh, they should be here by now!" She cried impatiently. "Katy's been ages!" Shannon just told Demi to shut up and be patient, but Angela agreed with Demi.
"She's right Shan... Katy should be back by now," she pointed out. Demi nodded and turned swiftly towards the door.
"Hey, where are you going?" Shannon asked quickly. "Don't you start disappearing too!" Demi rolled her eyes and opened the door.
"I'm going to find them, obviously! I'll come back in a minute," she said and left.
"Great," groaned Shannon. "And then there were two!" Angela let a small smile find it's way to her lips at that. Shannon just carried on scowling, wanting to know why Katy hadn't come back.
Demi only had to push the door to Katy and Destiny's door of it to open, proving Katy had meant to come back out again. Surely she would have locked it otherwise? The room was eerily quiet, making Demi more anxious be the second. The silence was shattered by a heartbreaking sob coming from the bathroom.
"D-d-demi made me e-e-eat. I had to throw up. I just h-had to!" The voice sobbed miserably. "The voices just hurt to much!" Demi felt guilt shoot through her. Destiny had purged, and it was all her fault!
"Demi was right to make you eat Sweetie," another voice said softly. "She's helping you, remember?"
"She's hurting me! I don't want to eat. I can't eat. It's all D-d-demi's fault," Destiny sobbed again. Demi turned to go, not being able to bear hearing anymore! Her foot got caught on Katy's bed, causing her to stumble and make a rather loud noise. She heard someone getting up and quickly fled from the room.
"Demi?" A voice called out after her. "Stop, wait!" Demi called back something, which sounded like 'go away Katy', and carried on running.
"Demi!" Another voice yelled loudly. "Wait! Please don't leave me! Katy stop her!" That was when Demi heard the sound of running feet chasing her. Her first thought was that Katy was going after her, but then she heard a thump and a yell.
"Destiny," Katy yelled. She sounded scared and paniced. Demi stopped and spun around to see Destiny laying on the floor looking up at her with pleading eyes. It had been Destiny chasing her, trying to stop her from going.
"Don't go... I'm sorry. Please don't leave me Demi," Destiny whimpered fearfully. "I-I n-need you..." Katy reached Destiny then and pulled her into a hug.
"Don't you dare run off like that again Destiny," she said. "You're too weak! You really scared me!" Destiny muttered a meek 'sorry' and hugged Katy back. But she held one pale hand out to Demi, who quickly grasped it in her own warm hand.
"I'm not leaving you Destiny," she said comfortingly. "I'm staying right here..." Katy smiled at Demi, who smiled back. Demi's words seemed to have calmed Destiny down, and that was definitely a relief. Katy stood up and pulled Destiny up with her. Demi quickly got up too. They turned and saw Shannon and Angela looking out of Demi's room at them, clearly surprised by what had happened.
"Come on," Katy said. "Let's go back to Demi's room. We have somethings to discuss.
"You mean school!" grumbled Destiny, sulkily following them inside the room. Katy nodded slowly.
"Yes, but really it's more than that... Destiny I live in LA. We all live in LA! Accept you... My life is back home in LA, but I know your life is here. That's what we were talking about..." Katy explained slowly. Destiny froze, realizing for the first time that Katy didn't live in the UK at all. She lived far away. Too far away! Her bottom lip began to shake violently as fear overtook her.
"But you-..." She began, but couldn't carry on incase she started crying. "I need- No, no I don't. Never mind..." Suddenly Destiny realized what she had been about to say. She didn't need Katy, she didn't need anyone! "Go back to LA. Go back to your lives. I'm okay on my own," she said determinedly.
"Destiny, I don't want to leave you!" Katy defended herself. Destiny shook her head furiously.
"Just leave Katy. Nobody's stopping you," she whispered. "Mum will wake up soon anyway, and I'll go home." Katy flinched at the word 'Mum'. But she could hear the pain in Destiny's voice. It seemed like Destiny needed her more than Katy had first thought.
"Come too," Angela begged. "We can start again. You can have a whole new life!" Destiny scowled furiously at her.
"I like my life the way it is!" She snapped harshly. "Or was..." Then she got up and started to leave the room. "I'm going to bed. See you guys later," she muttered before leaving. Katy sighed and watched her daughter leave.
"I don't know what to do," she whispered miserably.
"I don't know what to do," Destiny sobbed into Katy's pillow in the next room. "Mummy, please wake up! I need you! Everything's falling apart..."
Katy went back to her room a little while later to see Destiny curled up asleep hugging Katy's pillow. Katy smiled joyfully, and crept under the duvet besided Destiny and wrapped her arms around her small body.
"Perfect," she thought contentedly. "If only I'd never let her go..."
