Destiny shuffled around school silently, feeling more than a little vulnerable. She hadn't found Ash or his friends yet so she was completely alone. So far she had made it to Break without any trouble. But all that was about to change... Out of nowhere Angelica and her gang appeared.

"Hey Freak! Get out of here! You should have stayed at home where you belong! Or better yet, just drop down dead!" Angelica screamed evilly in Destiny's pale face. Destiny whimpered and began to run, not bearing the thought of Angelica seeing her cry! She ran into the nearest building and curled up against a wall on her knees sobbing.

"Hey, are you alright?" A voice asked gently. Destiny's head snapped up in surprise. She relaxed when she realized that it was only her English teacher, Miss Chelsea. Miss Chelsea gasped when she saw that Destiny was crying. "Baker, are you crying?" She asked, bending down to her level. Destiny shrugged and looked at her knees again. "Destiny?" Miss Chelsea repeated.

"I'm fine Miss, really..." Destiny replied quietly.

"Blatant lie," Miss Chelsea said and rolled her eyes. "Please don't lie to me Baker." Destiny didn't look up from her knees. Miss Chelsea signed and stood up. "Come on, you can hang out in my room until the bell rings. I have you next anyway," she pointed out. Destiny's face lit up and she scrambled to her feet.

"Really?" She asked, beaming. Miss Chelsea rolled her eyes playfully and nodded before walking into the classroom, Destiny followed close behind. Miss Chelsea went straight to her computer and began working and Destiny went to her usual desk and started to read her book, The Accidental Life Of Jessie Jefferson. She had found the book in the school Library and found she really related to it!

"What's that you're reading?" Miss Chelsea asked, looking up from her work. "Is it any good?"

"Yeah," Destiny nodded. "Its about a girl who's Mum has just died and her Step-Dad tells her who her real Dad is. Her Dad's actually a famous Rockstar! I borrowed it out of the school Library." Miss Chelsea nodded but looked closely at Destiny, analyzing her.

"Is the fact you're reading about a girl who's just lost her Mum anything to do with the fact you're Mum's in hospital?" She asked softly. Destiny winced and looked away. "It's okay Destiny, you're allowed to read it if you want to." Suddenly Destiny felt angry.

"Good because that's not the reason I'm reading it!" She snapped. Miss Chelsea was obviously not pleased about being spoken to in such a rude way, but did manage to remain calm.

"Well then why are you reading it?" She asked slowly, watching Destiny's response. Destiny hesitated before answering.

"Because its a good book!" She said harshly. "That's all..." Her voice trailed off at the end and she looked away. The bell rang before Miss Chelsea had a chance to answer. "Saved by the bell," Destiny thought thankfully.

"Okay Baker," Miss Chelsea said. "Go and wait outside the door with everyone else." Destiny nodded and began walking out the door. She smiled as she thought about Miss Chelsea calling her Baker. Miss Chelsea rarely used first names, and Destiny really loved being called Baker. It made her feel less like a Hudson, and she liked that.

The lesson seemed to drag, which was unusual since English was Destiny's favourite lesson. Nobody dared to throw any paper or notes at her in Miss Chelsea's class though, she could be terrifying when she wanted to be! When the bell finally rang Destiny was last to exit the classroom, dreading the thought of Lunch.
