A woman walked out of her house, hearing someone screaming just outside of her house. She bent down to look at the young girl, who was laying at the end of the path that lead to her front door. The girl was currently unrecognizable so the woman went back inside to get a cloth to clean her up with. As she wiped the dirt off of the girls face, the young girl whimpered in her sleep. The woman began humming softly so calm her down. Luckily it worked. Once the girls face was clean she realized who it was.
"Destiny," she breathed. She scooped her up and lay her down on the sofa, trying to wake Destiny up.
"Katy, help!" Destiny cried and sat bolt upright. The woman grabbed the girls shoulder, not wanting her to run away.
"Its okay, Destiny. It's me, Miss Chelsea." The woman soothed. Destiny took in her surroundings and breathed a sigh of relief.
"I found you," she whispered as her eyelids started to droop again. Confusion filled the womans face.
"Were you looking for me?" She asked nervously. Destiny nodded weakly, too tired to answer. "Why, Destiny?"
"I need you Miss," she whispered. "Please... I need.....to get to....America......"
It was morning by the time Destiny woke up again. Fear pulsed through her as she looked wildly around, not knowing where she was.
"It's alright, calm down." A quiet voice, from behind her, soothed. Destiny spun around and breathed a shaky sign of relief.
"Miss Chelsea? I thought I would never find you!" She told her.
"Destiny," Miss Chelsea said sternly. "Why were you out alone at night looking for me? Anything could have happen to you!" Tears pricked Destiny's eyes.
"I didn't know where else to go. I needed somebody who might maybe care about me, just a little bit." She said softly, trying to hold back her tears.
"It's okay, of course I care about you! But I'm sure a lot of other people do too. Why come to me?" Miss Chelsea asked, trying to be patient with Destiny.
"Because I trust you," she mumbled shyly. "I-I need a really b-big favor miss... It's important." Miss Chelsea looked at the pain on the young girls face, and her heart broke. She had taught Destiny for about two years now and had always looked out for her, protected her. Why should now be any different?
"Okay, what do you need?" She asked, smiling down at her.
"A-a plane ticket," she said nervously. Plane tickets cost a lot of money, Miss Chelsea could easily say no.
"To America...." Miss Chelsea muttered, saying it more to herself than to Destiny.
"Yes. How did you know?" Destiny asked suspiciously.
"You said you needed to get to America before you fell asleep," Miss Chelsea told her.
"I don't remember that," Destiny said miserably. "The last thing I remember is blacking out outside your house..." Miss Chelsea nodded, understanding. "So.... Would you get me a plane ticket, please? I'll pay you back, with interest! I promise. I just have to get to LA!"
"Destiny, you need to tell me why before I do anything." Miss Chelsea said gently. "I can't just send you off to America, especially without your parents permission!" Destiny's heart sank. Her parents. They would not in a million years give her permission to go to America.
"No! You can't ask them!" She said hurriedly. "They'll say no, but I have to go!"
"Then I'm sorry, but I'll have to say-" Miss Chelsea began.
"Wait!" Destiny cut her off. "MybirthMumisthere!" She said in a rush. "Please, I promise she will give you concent."
"You're birth Mum? You're adopted!" Miss Chelsea asked, surprised.
"Yes, that's who I was staying with after the fire. She's American, her house is in LA. You can check my file if you don't believe me..." Destiny said, her voice growing softer as she spoke. Miss Chelsea nodded and went to check her online file, knowing that she would be able to access it after logging into the school system.
"Destiny," the voices sneered. "Is Katy Perry your Mummy? Is that what she is? We thought you already had a Mummy! Does that mean you don't have siblings anymore? Is that why you left them there TO ROT?"
"Shut up," Destiny whispered forcefully. "I did not! I'll go back for them, promise I will! And Katy is not my Mum really. She's not! She's not! I have a Mum already. She just needs a break from children for a while. She's still my Mum..."
"What was that Destiny?" Miss Chelsea called out to Destiny. "I can't quite hear you."
"Nothing, Miss. I was just...thinking out loud." Destiny said softly back. Even as Destiny spoke, her inner demons were reaching up to the surface, desperate to drive her insane until there was no coming back...
