Chapter 18: Repetition

Your POV

Sat in the main drawing room all you could do was sit there as the others discussed what their next move would be seeming though Fiona got away. The others being Bunny, Amy, Sonic, Tails, Cream and Shadow.

You had been filled in by Bunny that yesterday when the team went on a mission Fiona led them all around Paris where she was hiding, Shadow was able to corner her where the two engaged in comabt but Fiona landed a blow, which Shadow would have brushed off had it not been for the poison the blade was laced with.

He'd gotten over the poison with ease and his wound was already practically healed, but he hadn't even hinted towards how he hugged you when he regained consciousness. And you had the feeling he wouldn't ever mention it again.

"Guys things just got worse!" Sally yelled running into the room.

"What is it Hun!?" Bunny asked trying to stay calm.

Sally threw a newspaper at the table which everyone looked at, and the front page made your blood run cold.

VIOLENT STREET MURDER. POSSIBLE VAMPIRE ATTACK.

"Another marked mate has been murdered." Sally said gravely.

Several gasps could be heard but it was as if your head had become suddenly lighter and the floor not as solid. Yet you were able to remain balanced. 

"As we all know the world famous singer Mina the Mongoose is a vampire but she had a mate called Ash the Mongoose, who she marked several years ago. But last night he was brutally murdered by a vampire. And the fang marks match the same as Cosmo's killer." Sally explained somberly.

A glance at Tails and he'd turned his gaze away unable to look at the article. 

"This was done deliberately, whoever this is did this so we'd notice. Mina is popular so this is a very public affair." Shadow contributed.

But even his tone changed to that of disgust.

"But the question is who would do something so diabolical?" Amy asked.

"I don't think it was Scourge." Sonic thought. 

"But could it be his informant? Or is it another enemy entirely?" You offered.

"Either way Ash's murder and Fiona surfacing can't be a coincidence so I'm willing to bet the vampire who killed Cosmo an' Ash is somehow in league with Scourge, whether they're companions of competitors they're bound be close to each other." Bunny stated.

"Bunny's right whoever this is they're trying to call us out, it may be a trap but if we can find this vampire and maybe Scourge then we've got no choice. Not only that if we don't answer this grotesque version of a message it could lead to further deaths. And we can't let that happen." Sally said determined.  

"Where did the attack take place?" Shadow asked.

"Britain, London. So it might be a good sign that they don't know where this safe house is, or they're trying to lead as far away as they possibly can." Sally answered.

"They can't know where this place is though, it's never been recorded on any documents at the society, so that pesky mole we still haven't found won't know where we are." Bunny added.

That reassured you slightly, at least there was very little chance of Scourge and his informant or possible new enemy finding you. 

"Right we've got plenty to get sorted, Bunny we need to contact a teleporter." Sally began.

Everyone else then went off preparing various things, figuring out what best times to leave the safe house, whether they should even go back up the surface in case of eyes outside. Despite you and Cream only being able to view everyone's busy behavior you couldn't help but notice, how Tails was the one working the hardest.
