Your pov

"Earth to Earth, and ashes to ashes...

As the vicar said his lines you struggled to choke back the tears as the coffin was lowered into the ground. There was enough people crying at the moment as it was with many of the children from the orphanage had gathered with you to mourn the life of your best friend Cosmo the Seedrian. You can still remember when you first started living at the orphanage at five years old. Cosmo who was the same age as you helped you out, telling you that you could be friends. Over the years you had gotten closer and when your time came you both moved out of the orphanage but stayed vey close.

But then two weeks ago on a night without the moon she went outside. No one knows why, only that she was going to most likely meet someone. But she never made it to where she was going as she was attacked by an insane vampire. They still haven't found whoever murdered Cosmo but that didn't matter right now all that mattered was that you said goodbye to your cherished friend.

After the ceremony was over everyone started to leave headed for the town hall where the reception was to be held. You too were going to make your way over until a bright flash of yellow caught your eye. Looking to the other end of the graveyard you saw a reasonably tall two tailed fox in a simple black suit with tie leaving the graveyard from the other exit. You recognised him from somewhere but you couldn't quiet place it. Curiosity taking over you decided to follow him, but as you turned the corner outside the graveyard he was gone.

"Where did he go?" you quietly asked yourself.

He must have known Cosmo otherwise he wouldn't have been here. You hoped that you might see him again another time as he seemed so sad, and being one of the closest to Cosmo you wanted to try and comfort the sad Kitsune. But it wouldn't be today.

Tails' pov

I wonder who that girl was? I thought as I headed home. Either way I was too depressed to think about it now. As I got home I changed out of this choking suit and into my usual jeans and plain T-shirt before I went downstairs to the work shop and sat at my desk giving a sigh. I was about to fix a communicator that Sonic had broken the other day but as I held the soldering iron in place my hands began to shake.

"Ah Damn it!" I yelled throwing the iron back onto the desk.

I buried my face in my arms leaning on the desk as I remembered Cosmo. Why was she even out that night!? We hadn't agreed to meet up and I'd never ask her to meet me on a night without a full moon. So who killed her!?

"Hey bud." I heard an all too familiar voice say as he voice say as I felt him pat me on the back.

"Hey Sonic." I replied my head still hidden in my arms.

"Don't worry we'll get the guy who did this." Sonic said trying and sadly failing to try and cheer me up.

I just stayed silent.

"Maybe it was Scourge?" Sonic suggested.

"No." I said sitting up.

"Scourge may be an asshole but he'd never kill someone who was marked." I said.

"Yeah guess your right." Sonic said going back to thinking of possible suspects.

When a vampire finds their mate then to let other vampires know that the other mate is already 'claimed' the vampire will 'mark' there mate. Which is just leaving two fang marks on the partners neck. Although there is a catch. If a vampire tries to mark there partner but the scars don't stay then that means that there not true soul mates. As vampires are immortal it's important that they don't mark the wrong person as they will most likely not be able to accept any blood but that of their mates. But that doesn't mean that other vampires can't drink from the marked mate. However it's seen as one of the biggest sins to actually kill another vampires mate.
