Rajae POV

I woke up with a headache. Arii wasn't layin' next to me but I knew she aint go no where cause I heard noise in the kitchen. I went to the bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth then headed downstairs.

Arii was sitting at the table reading a magazine. I grabbed a box a cereal and sat at the table with her. We both sat in silence. We been through a lot of shit these past couple of days and I think we both need a moment to think. Before I raised the spoon to my mouth I heard Tiana cry. Shit I forgot she was here. I turned to get up but Arii stopped me.

"No... I'll get her." She said.

I just looked at her and she walked off to get my daughter. A few minutes later she came down holding her on her hip talking to her.

"It's ok mamas you just needa eat something." She said in a baby voice. She pulled out one of her god daughters bottles and formula and made her a bottle. As Tiana drank, she sat on the couch and rocked back and forth.

I smiled at her parenting skills and it made me wonder. What would it be like had we not lost out baby? Had I not pulled that job? Where would we be now? My head started to hurt more so I let the thought go and put my bowl in the sink.

Arii POV

I was rocking Tiana back and forth as I fed her. She looked up at me and stared as if she could tell I was hiding something. 'She had his eyes' I thought. I started to think about what our baby would look like had we not lost her. Would she look like me? Would she look like Rajae? What it be a she?? I got pulled from my thoughts when I felt the couch sink in on me right. I looked over at Rajae and he looked like he wanted to say something.

"What?" I asked.

He looked down at Tiana.

"She likes you." He said.

"Yeah I guess she does huh." I started to smile.

I pulled the bottle out her mouth and lifted her to burp her.

"Can I?" Rajae asked.

I carefully handed her to him and he patted her back until she puked all over his shoulder.

"Aww shit man what the fuck?!" He semi-yelled. Tiana began to cry. I took her from him and stood up. As I bounced her up and down Rajae stood up and took his shirt off then headed upstairs. After Tiana settled I finally got her to sleep and I put her back in the guest room then cracked the door. I walked into our bedroom and saw him looking for another shirt. After giving up he laid back on the bed, put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes. I climbed on top of him and put my chin on his chest.

"Wassupp?" I asked, I knew something was wrong because he looked like he was in deep thought.

"I can't do this shit"

"What you mean?"

"THIS. I aint ready to be no dad man." He said signing again. I just waited for him to talk. I wanted him to know I was listening but I didn't push him to talk. Just when I was about to give up he opened his mouth.

"Im just scared. Not like "Imma dead beat and Imma leave Tiana with her mom scared', but I'm scared Imma fuck up. I'm barely home, I killed people, I smoke, AND I'm just now starting a real job tomorrow. I just feel like Imma let her down somehow. How am I gon' teach her to stay away from street niggas when I AM the street nigga. It's hard havin' a daughter man. FUCK!"

After hearing what he had to say I was a little in shock. I never knew he felt that way. It seemed as if he really wanted to change. Not just for him but for the little girl laying in the other room.

"So what's the plan?" I asked.

"What you mean."

"To be better you need to do better so what's your first step?" I said sitting up and straddling him.

"I don't know. I guess I'll try to spend my time at work and home so I can be with her more."

I just nodded and kissed his cheek. I liked it when he played daddy. He seemed like more of a man. Not that he wasn't before but, this is a different side of him. A part Tiana, and I'd both love to see more.
