The Call

Author's POV

Arii drove the car as fast as she could without drawing attention to herself. All she could think about was being with Rajae again. She couldn't stand the fact that they were apart. Especially in a situation like this. She turned in her seat to check on Tiana who was starting out the window with the saddest look on her face.

"Titi you ok?" She asked her.

She just looked at her with her glossy eyes and then turned back to the window. Turning back around, Arii blew out a sigh not knowing what to do. Then she felt her phone buzz.

Rajae POV

"Hello." She said.

"Yall aight?" I asked. I was doing about 120 on the freeway with 6 police cars and 1 helicopter behind me.

"Yeah we're fine. Titi ain't said nun since you left though. How you doin' over there?"

I put the phone down as I flipped a U-ey and continued in the other direction.

I put the phone back on my ear.

"They still on my ass but I'm holdin' in there."

The phone grew quiet on both ends. Until I finally broke the silence.

"So where you say you wanna go? Alina or some shit?"

She laughed on the other end.

"Argentina." The way she spoke in her spanish tongue made her sound sexy.

"I always liked your accent." I said to her.

"Put Tiana on the phone for me."

There was a little bit of shuffling on the phone then her heard her voice.

"Hello?"

"Hey princess."

"Hi."

"You ok?"

"Yeah."

"You know daddy loves you right? I dindn't wanna leave you but there's something I gotta take care of."

"And then you come back for me?"

It broke my heart hearing her ask me that. I'll always come back for her. Even if I was coming out the gates of hell. That's my baby girl. My WORLD.

"Of course I will."

"Promise?"

"I promise, put Arii back on the phone.

More shuffling went on.

"Hello?"

"Yeah Imma see yall soon aight? I need to loose dese mf's. I love you."

"I love you too.... Be safe... Come home to me in one piece."

"Aight."

6 Months Later

Arii POV

I held Tiana's hand as we walked down the coast of La Vida beach. I bought a beach house right in front of the ocean.

"So Señora Rodriguez tells me YOU are her top student in spanish! Im so proud of you."

"Thanks mommy."

She got so big. She lost 4 teeth and she's talking better than any other little girl I've known.

"Can you tell me something in spanish?"

"Mmmmmm okay!"

"Alright go."

"Me gusta bailar porque yo escho musica a todo la día."

"That was really good!" I shifted my weight to my other leg as we walked because my arm was getting tired.

"Do one more." I said.

She looked to her right and stared out at the Ocean. Then she turned back around and froze in her tracks.

"Titi what's wrong?"

"Daddy." She whispered.

"What?"

I looked in the same direction as her and couldn't believe it.

"Rajae?" I said on the verge of tears.

Tiana let go of my hand and took off running toward him. He sped walked over towards her and swung her around kissing all over her face.

It felt good to hear her laugh and see her smile again. Atleast she's happy.

Carrying her on his hip, he walked towards me. All I could do was stare at him. It's been so long... I wasn't ready for this moment.

"You just gon' stand there?" He said.

The sound of his voice made my heart skip a beat. I quickly wrapped my free arm around him and gave him the biggest hug ever.

"I missed you so much." I whispered.

He put tiana down and looked at me then who was in my arms.

"What's his name?" He asked.

"I named him after you. We just call him Junior... or J for short."

He just looked at him and smiled to himself.

"Wanna hold him?"

Looking at me first, he reached out and grabbed him from me.

"He has my eyes." He said.

"Yeah and my hair." I rubbed my hand through his hair.

Rajae wrapped his arm around my waist as I picked up Tiana.

"I miss yall so much. And I'm sorry it took so long."

I just kissed him. I'm glad he's back home.
