"Hey," Bucky looked up to the unfamiliar voice, setting down his drink when he saw her face. "Uh, Hi. Do I-Do I know you?" The woman shook her head.

"No, but a lot of people have been stealing glances at you. And I can tell by the things they're thinking, they're planning on calling the police before they leave." Bucky squinted. She could hear what they were thinking?

"Yes, I can, and I can also hear what you're thinking. You should come with me, someone's already dialing." Bucky left his drink there and followed the woman out of the resturant.

She was beautiful. But what if she was Hydra?

Bucky stopped, unable to take another step at the widing possibility. "What's wrong?"

"Where are you taking me?" He slowly lifted his gaze from her feet and met her eyes. "To your apartment. You think that I'm Hydra, and I'm not. I wanna protect you. That's all."

"Why me?" She shrugged. "You seem lost. And it seems like a lot of people are after you. I'd hate to see you get hurt." She actually cared.

"Okay."

It's been six months, and I had learned to love this girl. Her name was Y/N, and she was the best thing to ever happen to me. Her power was so amazing. She could so easily turn my nightmares into dreams, and soothe my mind when I felt like I was losing control. But I loved her for her genuine kindness, and her smart mind. She was smarter than the smartest guy in the room. But she never showed it. That's why I loved her.

"Okay, you, The winter soldier, are afraid of spiders?"

"Y/N," I whined, dragging out the last syllable of her name. "Leave me alone, you know I'm fragile."

"Terribly." I kissed her cheek as we walked and I watched as her cheeks filled with red. "Now, we're even." She rolled her eyes, entertwining her fingers with mine.

"I love you." I smiled, watching her chuckle. "I love you, too, you goof."

We walked to the morning market for food, trying to avoid startig a food fight like last time. I'm surprised we weren't banned after that. "Are we getting plums?"

"Of course. Who do you think I am?"  She laughed. "Just making sure you're still you."

"I'm always me when I'm around you."

"So you're a goof and a cheeseball. Where is my boyfriend?" I rolled my eyes, and picked up two plums with my left hand. I could feel it. Barely, but it was there. "Can I get six of these?"

"The red plums?" The cashier confirmed. I nodded in reponse.

After I paid, I turned around to walk around with Y/N more, only to discover that she wasn't there. "Y/N?"

I saw her head peek out a few feet ahead of me, and her face was written with fear. I rushed to her, looking for any signs of damage. "What's wrong?"

"Too loud." She cried. I noticed she had lost one of her ear plugs, which was how she controlled which thoughts she heard and which she didn't. "C'mon, we'll get you out of here."
