Winter formal

We got through finals, and we all finally worked everything out. Ryan took extra precautions with me, which I thought was ridiculous. I told him I wasn't a China doll; I wasn't fragile and wouldn't break. He didn't care; he felt guilty for what happened.

He reluctantly accepted Elena and Jordan are moving to the next level of their relationship, but he realized they loved each other. I also pointed out who better to be with her than Jordan, and he had to agree with me.

The new semester was in full swing with Christmas in a few weeks. The school was having a winter formal at the main hall. Since every dance turns into a major disaster, I can't see this one being any better.

We picked up our dresses, and the guys picked up their tuxes. We all dressed in our rooms so that the guys could pick us up like regular dates. Okay, so strange, same thing.

Frazier and Jordan already came and collected their dates. I was putting in my earring when I heard a knock at the door. I walked over and answered it to Ryan standing there, looking sharp in a black tux and bow tie, holding a corsage.

"Wow, you look breathtaking," he complimented me.

"You look hot, yourself," I said, kissing him, making sure not to smudge my lipstick.

He leaned into my ear with a husky voice. "I will smudge your lipstick later."

Yep, I turned into a tomato.

"I love it when you blush," he commented.

"Thanks," I responded.

"Anytime," he smiled.

He put the corsage on me, and I took his arm as he led me downstairs to a car, waiting for us. We arrived in front of the main hall, and he got out, taking my hand. That is what I loved about him. Even after everything that happened, he was still that kind, loving guy, I fell in love with and will always be. Yes, people make mistakes; It's whether they learn from them that makes the difference.

We walked arm in arm into the hall, and people were dancing. We found the others by the punch bowl.

"The punch bowl," I asked them.

"At least, we're not wearing it." Frazier shrugged.

"Yet," added Jordan. I rolled my eyes. Everyone walked to the dance floor, except Ryan and I. We stood by the punch bowl, and I had some punch, not talking much, which had become awkward.

"So, want to dance," I asked him.

"Maybe later," he answered. Okay, could this get any more awkward between us? Ever since that night, he had been acting more and more distant with me. He barely touches me because he thinks he will hurt me, hardly affectionate, except maybe a peck here and there, and lately, our conversations have been awkward as hell.

One thing was for sure. I don't think I will drink anymore punch after tonight. We just stood there when one of the Dungeon and Dragons boys came up to me. He was the less creepy of the three.

"Hi, Alex," he greeted me.

"Hi, Malcolm," I greeted him.

"Would you like to dance? That's if your date doesn't mind?" He inquired.

Ryan was about to say something, when I said, "Sure, I would love to dance with you. It beats standing here all night." I glared at him. I saw his expression change and thought, well, he deserves it. I took Malcolm's hand, and we walked out to the dance floor, slowly dancing and talking.

Ryan stood there, starting to fume when the guys danced over to him.

"Dude, why are the Dungeon and Dragon boy dancing with Alex?" Frazier asked. Yes, they have even referred to them.
