After the night of the storm, we all learned a valuable lesson, never sneak up on me. Well, at least Frazier learned.
Since that night, the guys beefed up the security on the house. I ended up sleeping in Ryan's bed, as did the girls with the guys. Ryan wasn't happy with Jordan and Elena, but we persuaded him that with what happened, we all felt safer. He suggested she sleep on the floor in his room. That was a big fat no.
Fall formal was coming up, and I was dreading it for obvious reasons. I wanted to stay home to avoid another punch incident, but everyone persuaded me to attend. Why do I have a feeling this was another disaster in the making?
We all got ready, and the guys were waiting for us downstairs. We came downstairs; each of us takes our date's arms. Ryan looked at me, beaming, "Stunning as always."
I blushed, and he kissed me on the cheek. We left and arrived at the hall, getting nods from fellow students and faculty. We walked inside, and the music was playing. Ryan led me out onto the dance floor and swung me around until I landed in his arms. We started dancing. A slow song was playing, and I felt like everyone was watching us.
"What?" Ryan asked me.
"People are watching us," I said.
"No, they're not. Everyone is watching you because you're beautiful, and you're all mine," Ryan remarked.
I smiled at him, and it felt like everyone disappeared around us, leaving just the two of us. Being here with Ryan was more than I could ever ask for in my life. I felt safe and loved by him. What more could a girl ask for with any guy?
Spoke too soon, as a girl tapped on his shoulder, "Excuse me, care for a dance?"
Before he answered, I replied, "Actually, if you don't mind, we are dancing."
"Excuse me," she asked me with a look.
"I said we're dancing," I replied.
"Well, I didn't ask you, did I? I asked the gentleman because he promised me a dance," she told me.
I looked at Ryan, "What is she talking about?"
"She asked, and I said maybe, but I never promised her anything," he answered.
I looked at him, and once again, I felt defeated. I want one night where some guy or girl doesn't ruin it. I also didn't want to appear a jealous girlfriend, even though I felt like it. I looked at her. "He's all yours."
"Alex," Ryan said.
I waved, shaking my head, walking away. I turned and saw the girl dance with him. I walked over to the refreshment table and looked here if it isn't my old friend punch. I picked up a cup and started sipping it as I watched them dance. The others walked over to me and grabbed a cup of punch.
"Why is Ryan dancing with some other girl, Alex?" Marissa asked.
"Well, apparently, my idiot boyfriend promised her a dance, even though he claims he said maybe," I told her.
"This should be good," Frazier smirked.
We watched them dance as the girl tried to make conversation while Ryan looked bored out of his mind. Then she wanted to touch him, and he kept moving her hands back to their proper place.
"Wow, he looks like he needs saving," smirked Jordan.
"I guess he gets what he deserves." I smiled, taking a sip from my cup.
Then we saw the girl get touchy-feely and squeeze his butt; my eyes widened.
"Oh, hell, no! Hold my earrings, babe!" Elena yelled. She took out her earrings, handing them to Jordan, grabbing a cup full of punch and marching over to them.
