After the incident at the bakery, they beefed security up with someone checks every delivery that came in. It was getting annoying by the minute, but we had to make the person unhinged if they would make mistakes.
We all continued as usual as possible, which meant the semester was ending, and that meant spring break!
We were studying for finals, with all of us scattered around the house. I thought Theresa's annoyed with us. Still, she was happy to have a full house, especially with Dean, and Cole is there, too. It seems the fraternity house wasn't as quiet as they would have liked.
Ryan and I were in the living room with Cole and Amy when the doorbell rang. I got up to answer it as they continued to study. I opened the door to find a package on the doorstep addressed to me. I picked it up, bringing it back inside and closing the door.
Ryan looked up from his notes. "What's that?"
"I don't know. It's some package address to me," I answered while looking at the package.
"Were you expecting anything?" He asked me.
"No, and it doesn't have a return address," I said, furrowing my eyebrows.
Ryan and Cole scrambled to their feet, rushing towards me. Cole grabbed the package, opening the door and throwing it as far as he could while Ryan tackled me to the ground. Cole slammed the door shut, diving to cover Amy.
"Ryan," I yelled when we heard a huge boom, and the house shook. Everyone ran into the living room, including Theresa, to see what all the commotion was.
"What the fuck was that?" Jordan yelled.
"I don't know, but it sounded like an explosion," Frazier said, shocked.
Ryan looked at me. "Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I think so."
He helped me up, as did Cole with Amy.
"Well, is someone going to tell us what the hell that was?" Jordan asked again.
"A bomb," said Cole. Our faces showed shock, except Ryan's and Coles. As I stood there, I didn't notice the blood dripping down my leg. Amy saw it. "Are you okay, Alex?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said as I fainted with Ryan, catching me in his arms.
"Alex," he yelled.
He laid me down and noticed a piece of glass sticking out of my side. "Someone calls 911!"
Frazier made the call, and an ambulance showed up, taking me to the hospital. Ryan rode with me. Everyone followed behind us. Once we arrived, they took me into emergency surgery to remove the piece of glass and to repair one of my kidneys.
It took them two hours to do the surgery, and they sedated me for twelve hours so that I could rest. I woke up tired with an ache in my lower back to an anxious Ryan, who was holding my hand. The minute he saw my eyes open, he stood to his feet, leaning in and kissing my forehead.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, stroking my forehead.
"Like I got hit by a truck. What happened?" I groaned.
"When the bomb exploded, it shattered the glass in the living room window, causing a piece to hit your lower back. It punctured one of your kidneys," Ryan informed me. I panicked. "They could repair it and remove the glass. You will be fine," he reassured me.
I nodded as a tear fell down my cheek. I wiped it away with my hand.
"Hey, it will be okay," he whispered.
