All I Want For Christmas Is You

Everything had calmed down, and we had passed our finals. After the meeting with Professor Dave with Ryan, he offered me a job as his assistant, coming up with different scenarios for hacks. With everything going on, I almost forgot about the meeting until he reminded me towards the end of the semester.

Training had cut down drastically, and I worked at the bakery two days a week. With my schedule, I was beyond exhausted. We had even started the new semester right after Thanksgiving.

With my hectic schedule, plus carrying a big class load, it didn't leave me much time alone with Ryan. I hated it because I heard most couples split up because of the lack of time together. Something had to give, or it would be my sanity.

I started noticing the distance between us. And he was talking to other people, including other women. I guess this happens when it spreads you so thin that your boyfriend loses interest to the point; you sleep in separate rooms.

Every time I tried to approach him about the issue, he would say nothing was wrong, and I worried too much or that he knows I had a lot on my plate. College was to be fun, but it was anything but that.

I finally had enough and told Professor Dave; I couldn't be his assistant and quit. I also told Kate the same thing. I even stop showing up for training sessions. Even after all that, I barely saw Ryan and chalked it up to the fact we were over with, especially after I saw him hanging out with another girl. It broke my heart into a million pieces, and I gave up. It wasn't worth it anymore.

Christmas break was coming up, and I took a break from everything, including school and everyone. I called my parents, and they sent me money to come home. Dad had finally settled his affairs with the debt collectors and could put some money aside.

I was packing my stuff when Frazier came in, laughing about something that happened. I wasn't paying any attention until I heard him say, "Alex? What are you doing?"

"I'm packing," I answered, not bothering to look at him.

"Why?" Frazier asked.

"I'm going home for Christmas, and I may not be back," I said as I put stuff into boxes.

"What do you mean, you might not be back?" He questioned me with a confused tone.

"Well, I quit my job, the assistant position, and training to make time for Ryan. He's too busy with another girl, so I figured he lost interest because I'm too busy and that it's over," I rambled as I continued to pack.

"What are you talking about?" He asked, turning me to face him. My cheeks are tear-stained. "Alex," he said.

I shook my head, waving him off of me. "I need to finish. Excuse me." I left to get the rest of my stuff.

He ran out of my room and down into the living room. They were all joking around until they stopped and looked at him.

"Dude, you look like you just ran a marathon," Jordan chuckled.

"Alex, leaving, Ryan, over," he said, trying to catch his breath.

"What are you talking about?" Ryan asked, looking at him.

Frazier walked over to him with fire in his eyes. "Dude, Alex is leaving because of you!"

"What?" Ryan looked at him, confused.

"Yeah, she's packing right now! She thinks you lost interest in her because she saw you with another girl! She even quit everything for you, and you don't give a fuck!" Frazier shouted.

"That's not the truth," Ryan yelled.

"Oh, yeah, then you tell that to the girl upstairs crying!" Frazier yelled.
