After surviving the surprise party crashers, I came to one conclusion. This unknown enemy was nuts and didn't quite have an idea who they were dealing with now. Everything they backfired, even some of it was funny. I'm not scared anymore since it seemed more humorous as of late.
First, a bomb package and now a hitman. Seriously, where was this person getting their ideas from watching too many movies? I just shook my head at it all; it was getting ridiculous if you ask me. The guys weren't too happy with everything that happened, especially Ryan.
He didn't feel like I was taking it enough, but I refused to be a prisoner by someone that couldn't even show themselves. I prefer to confront my enemy face to face, not by packages and notes.
We were working out, and things got heated between Ryan and I. He was holding the bag as I was doing kicks.
"I still think you should think about what we said," he said to me.
"No, I refuse to bow down to a coward," I grunted, throwing another kick in the bag.
"Think about it, Alex. This attitude could get you killed," he told me.
"How would it get me killed? Whoever this, wants me scared and run away with my tail between my legs, which I refused to do," I grunted, throwing a hard kick almost knocking him off of his feet.
"Come on; we're trying to keep you safe," he reasoned.
"I said no," I yelled, producing a kick harder than the next. My anger was getting the best of me.
He let go of the bag and looked at me. "Fine, you have it your way."
He grabbed his towel and walked away.
"Ryan," I yelled.
He stopped and walked toward me. "You know what Alex, your stubbornness, will get you killed! But fine, have it your way! I'm done!" With that, he turned and walked out. I looked at the others, and they just shook their hands, throwing their hands up, following behind him.
"Sure, play follow the leader," I yelled after them. I let my anger get the best of me, which led me even more frustrated. Whoever was doing this pitted us against each other and hit my weakness, my insecurities about being alone.
I took a shower and cooled off. Maybe the guys were right, but I hated living in fear. I made it that way most of my life, hence why I didn't have any friends. I was too scared most of the time. I picked up my bag and walked toward the showers when I heard what sounded like a door closing. I turned and yelled, "Ryan?"
Not seeing anything, I turned to leave when I stopped. I got an uneasy feeling when I felt someone grab me. The person put their hand over my mouth, and I panicked. So many thoughts played through my mind. The guys were right. I let my guard down. And now I would die.
I closed my eyes, praying for a miracle. Then I heard a loud voice yell, "Let Alex go!"
I opened my eyes and saw Ryan with the guys. They started towards us when the guy brandished a knife and held the tip to my neck. "Ah, ah, ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. It would be so easy to kill her right here and now."
"What do you want?" Ryan asked.
"To deliver a message to you. Challenge accepted," he answered.
They all looked at me as the guy tightened his grip around my neck. I looked at them, then Ryan said to me, "Game on." I nodded.
I took my foot and stomped on the guy's foot, making him loosen his grip. I swung around, out of his arms, and through a flat foot kick to his stomach, making him grab his stomach. I pulled my arm back and hit him in the nose with the palm of my hand.
