Two months had passed by, exams ending and Summer finally in full course. Sapphire had found herself becoming closer and closer to Ruby, no longer feeling alone anymore. She felt comfortable around her, even being able to go as far as not covering her eyes when they were alone. She still had insecurities, but somehow this girl was making Sapphire forget all about them. She actually began to feel beautiful. The more she thought about it, the more she realized how important Ruby was becoming to her. This terrified her because of the lingering fear that she would break her heart and leave her, but she frankly didn't give a damn. This was the best she had felt in a long time, and she wasn't about to give it up over her ridiculous superstitions.
Ruby had learned a lot about Sapphire, and vice-versa. Ruby learned that the shorter girl often had nightmares about events that could but never would happen, she learned that she sneezed when you booped her nose, and she learned that she was in love with her. She had never felt emotions as strong as she did for Sapphire, and it made her ecstatic. Ruby could only imagine the amazing future they would have together, and it always ended with them dying happily in each other's arms. Sapphire was perfect, absolutely incredible, and she couldn't stop thinking about her.
Both of the girls' thoughts had gotten a bit, um, dirtier as the weeks went by, but they never attempted anything. The farthest they had gone was the intense kissing, but no more than that. They liked this pace. It was slow, steady, and not too much for either of them. Both yearned for so much more, for even a single touch, but they resisted the urge to do so. Too much would hurt the relationship they had now, so they waited patiently.

Today they were to be on a date at a restaurant in the downtown side of Empire City. Ruby had been saving up for weeks to go here, and she was nervous as hell. She made sure reservations were made, she checked to see if her car was functioning well enough for the drive there, and she had even gone as far as renting a burgundy tuxedo for the event. Sapphire had also done a little preparation of her own, making sure they would spend the night together again, most likely watching television and cuddling up in the fireplace at the end of Sapphire's apartment. Tonight was their two month anniversary, and they were both very excited.
The time passed them by quickly, neither seeing the other at all the entire day. Sapphire slipped into a silky blue dress, the color matching the shade of the star-speckled sky. Her hair was in an elegant bun, no single strand of hair out of place. She looked absolutely stunning. Sapphire wore the pearls that her mother had left her when she was born. Ruby, on the other hand, was having difficulty getting into the suit. She had no idea how to put it on, struggling until her mother helped her wear it properly.
"And where are you going, seeing as you're dressed so fancy tonight?" Her mother asked.
"I'm going on a d-" Ruby stuttered. "I'm going to a dinner party with Sapphire. It's a school thing for next year."
"Okay sweetie, have fun." Her mother said once she finished tying the bow tie.

Ruby got into her car, dressed and ready, and drove to Sapphire's apartment. Sapphire walked down once she got at call from the taller girl and she got in.
"You look gorgeous, Sapphy." Ruby said in a lovestruck manner.
"You don't look too bad yourself." Sapphire responded in a sly tone.
They smiled at each other, kissed quickly, and began the drive to Empire City.
Tonight was the night that Ruby would tell Sapphire that she was in love with her.
