Ruby was always surprised at how patient Sapphire was. Regardless of the situation, she always managed to stay calm. In a way, Ruby was jealous of this.
Of course they fought in the past, as all couples do, but this time was different. Sapphire was usually the calm one in these situations, Ruby being the one to lose herself in her own emotions. This time, though, it was Sapphire's turn to lose her cool. Ruby never saw Sapphire get this way until they talked about what really happened that night. She never expected to see her cry as much as she did. It broke her heart to see that someone could do this to such an innocent and kind person, and it completely shattered her to know that this person did this to her Sapphy because of her. She never meant to be flirty, she only meant to lighten the mood of the room. Ruby didn't want to ever be with Emerald, but somehow she ended up leading her on without knowing.

They talked everything out, not leaving a single question unanswered, making sure that the other was feeling alright. Ruby spent the night at Sapphire's apartment again. Both girls laid in bed, Sapphire facing away from Ruby. The taller girl had her arms around the shorter, wrapping them around her tummy. Sapphire had her hands on Ruby's, fingers intertwined with the other's. Both slowly fell asleep. But before Ruby fell asleep, she felt Sapphire shiver. Then she heard a sniffle, but by then she blacked out, exhaustion getting to her.
Sapphire turned around a few minutes later, fully facing Ruby. She sighed, carefully playing with one of Ruby's curls before she, too, fell asleep.
