"Ruby, you look incredible. You really do." Sapphire cooed, her arm around a now teary-eyed Ruby.
"No I don't, Sapphire, I look weird. Your sister said to dress fancy and the best I can do is shorts and a button-up shirt. This isn't okay. You'll look ridiculous walking in there with me." Ruby cried.
Sapphire grabbed both sides of Ruby's face and pulled her close. It was close enough for a quick kiss, but neither was willing to at the moment.
"I don't care if you walk in there naked. Ruby Smith, I want you to get it in your head right now that I love you and couldn't care less if you dress fancy. I want you for you, and not even some fancy dinner should make you put yourself down for not bringing dress-clothes on a vacation where we didn't need it in the first place. Now come on, let's start heading to the restaurant."
Ruby wiped her own tears away, being helped off the bed by Sapphire. She stared at her. Even when she was wearing a simple black dress she managed to look like the most elegant woman alive, and this made her all the more incredible in Ruby's eyes.

The two girls arrived at the restaurant and went inside, looking for Lapis and Jasper. Instead of finding them, they were greeted by one of the managers.
"Good evening how may I assist yo-" The manager was suddenly silent.
She was staring at Sapphire. She let out a quick gasp and put her hand over her mouth.
"Oh my stars! Good evening, Miss Sapphire Blue! It is such an honor to have you dining with us tonight. My name is Holly, and if there's anything you need just let me know."
"Thank you," Sapphire began, hesitant because she had become used to being greeted as if she weren't anyone important, and seeing this lady's reaction was reminding her of her past. "there is something you can help us with. My sister is here, Lapis, and we are dining with her tonight. It would be great if you could tell us where she is."
"Of course, Miss Blue. Right this way." Holly spoke in a sing-song tone, excitement clearly in her voice.
Ruby had never seen someone so eager to be near Sapphire, not even herself, so this was strange to her. She was surprised at how calm Sapphire was being about this. She acted as if she had been spoken to like this every day of her life, as if it was completely normal part of her lifestyle. Wait, why is Sapphire's family rich? She'd have to ask later.
They finally found Lapis and Jasper, whom were quietly arguing. Holly sat them and offered to get Sapphire a drink, but she paid no attention to Ruby.
Once they finally got Holly to leave, all of the girls talked amongst themselves. It was small-talk mostly. Just simple How-Are-Yous and How's-So-And-So. Everything was going well. They all moved and sat at the bar, despite Sapphire being too young to sit there by a year, which Ruby teased her for. Holly was the one who allowed them to sit there, fully knowing Sapphire was too young.
The night was going pretty smoothly, then Lapis started to drink.
