The first thing Ruby saw was a giant Ferris wheel and a ride called the 'Ring Of Fire' that went all the way around in a big circle, turning the riders upside down. Ruby gulped nervously, and Sapphire grinned mischievously. They went straight to the Ferris wheel once they had tickets. They got a cart all to themselves and cuddled together.
"Ruby?" Sapphire whispered, enjoying the happy sounds all around them from the carnival.
"Yes?" Ruby replied.
"Do you really mean it when you say you want to grow old with me?"
Ruby blinked in confusion.
"Of course I mean it. You've been so great in my life. Before you, I felt like I was too much for anyone to handle. Since you've stepped into my life I've been able to calm down, to not explode over small things. I've left the whole partying life of drinking and dating girls for like a week only to have my heart crushed. It's like you're the missing puzzle piece that completes me, and I love you so much because of it. I love who you are and the things you do, and that's something I know that you never had much of, but I'm here now and I'll make sure that no one ever makes you feel that way again. I need you, and I can't say that about everyone. I want you to be here for as long as possible."
Sapphire smiled, knowing that Ruby was telling her the truth. She didn't believe she was enough to be loved, but when Ruby said it she couldn't help but accept it as the real deal.
She held Ruby's hand and pulled it up to her lips, kissing her fingertips gently.
They got off the ride soon after, enjoying the rest of the night by crashing into each other in Bumper Cars, popping balloons with darts to win teddy bears for one another, and screaming while on the Ring Of Fire that seemed to almost never end.
"I swear we were on for at least five minutes!" Ruby yelped, dizzy and shaken from the ride they had just went on.
"Oh calm down, it wasn't that bad. It was barely scary." Sapphire chuckled.
"Barely?! I almost died! I know for a fact that my heart stopped beating."
Sapphire could only laugh. For someone as tough as Ruby, she really could get scared easily. Ruby just scoffed and went to go vomit in a trash can from the nausea caused by the ride.

Once the attractions started closing down, the two girls left and went to go eat something. Sapphire wasn't very hungry, but Ruby was starving. They went to a fast food place, ordered some chicken fingers with fries, and headed back to the motel. As they ate, they told stories from their childhoods, such as the time when Ruby was accidentally stabbed in her left palm by her cousin(he was harmlessly sharpening a knife and didn't see ten-year-old Ruby flailing her palms out while talking. She flung her arm out and immediately felt a sharp pain) and how Sapphire cut her hair up to her neck because she wanted to look like Snow White(she wore the costume every day to school for two weeks in first grade before her father noticed and made the nannies dress her in 'proper clothing' for practically the rest of the time she was living with her family). They laughed and laughed, wondering what thy would have been like if they would have grown up together.
"Do you think we would have even been friends?" Ruby pondered, staring at her fries as if she were interrogating them.
"Maybe in high school, but not when we were kids. I avoided people like the plague, and I didn't start talking to students until high school, but only because I was forced to due to group assignments." Sapphire answered.
"I wish I could have been your friend earlier."
"That doesn't matter any more, Ru. We're here together, and that's all that counts."
They smiled at one another, finishing their food. They took a shower together and went to bed, snuggled up together in the warmth of the blankets.
Sapphire thought to herself right before she fell asleep;'I can't wait to go back home and wake up every morning to that gorgeous face.'
