Ruby walked over to Sapphire, holding her close and whispering soft, reassuring things to her. She kissed her forehead, cheek, and her tiny hands: her only weakness. Sapphire sat still this entire time, but still letting Ruby know that she was fully accepting of her signs of affection. She gripped onto Ruby's shoulders and pulled her in, foreheads touching but lips almost a mile apart. They stayed like this for almost an hour, neither wanting to separate from the other. Then, finally, they both moved and got up, walking to lay in bed. Both girls still had on the clothes from the night before, so they got out of them and changed into pajamas before laying down, Sapphire wearing a silky blue nightgown and Ruby wearing some basketball shorts and her regular sports bra. They cuddled up together, whispering small-talk to each other as if they were trying to keep quiet from parents hearing them. It was mostly How-Are-Yous and listing their favorite things, but it felt like the conversation was so much more in-depth. Then Ruby changed the topic.
"So, what will you do once college is over?"
Sapphire was silent, then she spoke.
"Well, I'd like to keep on track with singing, but I don't really know. I've always dreamt of being in my own show in Empire City, the star of my own musical. But even that seems to be a bit too far-fetched." She paused. "But all I really hope for is that you'll be there with me, Empire City or not."
Ruby smiled, then told Sapphire what she wanted to do.
"When I get out of college, I don't really know what I'll do. I'm taking basic courses, so I have no idea what I'll be when I leave. All I know is that I'm planning to make you my wife. We'll have a nice house, kids, and a lifetime of love. That's all I really want."
Sapphire blushed, grinning while Ruby told her about her dreams of their lives spent together. She moved closer to Ruby, nuzzling her collarbone.
"You know," the shorter girl began, "maybe we can start practicing how we will live together in the future?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean that maybe you should move in with me."

They were both silent.
