Sapphire woke up, for once not snapping awake in gasps and shivers. She looked at the girl next to her.
'Ruby's so cute when she sleeps.' She thought to herself.
She slowly got out of bed and into the shower, then getting dressed and watching some videos on YouTube. She waited for Ruby to wake up. About half an hour later, she finally did. Ruby scanned the room, looking for Sapphire. Once she found her, she got out of bed and kissed her forehead.
"Morning, hon." She sleepily yawned.
"Good morning, sweetie~" Sapphire responded.
Ruby blushed lightly at the nickname, thinking it was adorable in every way possible. She jumped into the shower, got ready, and walked over to Sapphire.
"So, where are we going today, Sapph?"
"I was thinking maybe we could get out of this place."
"But why? This is the nicest place EVER!" Ruby's voice was teeming with sarcasm. Sapphire giggled and grabbed her bag, which she didn't even have to pack because they had barely even been in the motel room. Ruby did the same and they were off to find somewhere else to explore. They chose to take a detour and go to the forest for a little bit, just to relax and unwind from the previous day's events.

They finally reached the forest, walking around in it aimlessly, but staying close enough to the road so they wouldn't get lost. The pathways were so full of colors, different shades of green covering the landscape, wild flowers and berry bushes places in areas that looked so natural, yet so staged. They wandered, listening to all of the birds sing and watching all of the frogs leap across rocks to get into the water of almost crystal-clear streams. Ruby suggested after a few hours that they should picnic out there, and so the did just that. Sapphire had brought food and plenty of water, making it easy for them to just sit and eat. While eating, they spoke about some of the best moments of their lives.
"My personal favorite, aside from meeting you, was when I woke up for Christmas and got a song book with actual sheet music. I felt so professional with it, and my family knew I loved to sing, but it would always be off-key or random, so my father gave it to me so I could actually sing something nice. I've been singing ever since." Sapphire sighed after speaking, smiling and leaning on Ruby's shoulder.
"Mine was one day in Freshman year in high school when I chose to release all of the frogs in the lab before anyone could dissect them. They were just sitting there, fear on their faces, and I hated it! I had to, and so I did. My mom grounded me for like a year, but it was worth it because they all escaped the school through the window and got into the pond nearby safely." Ruby grinned with pride after she spoke, Sapphire hugging her and expressing her pride in Ruby over what she did.
Before they knew it, the sun began to set. They got up and headed to the car, not yet ready to go rent another motel.

Sapphire drove to a nearby lake, going to a single dock that hung over the water. The sky was lit up with bright stars, the half-moon shining in a way it never had before. Sapphire held Ruby's hand, pulling her to the dock and laying down on it, staring at the sky. Ruby laid next to her, focused on Sapphire only. The blue tint of the night was absolutely incredible, especially from Ruby's viewpoint. She studied the way the lighting made her love look even softer, more delicate. Her golden hair, voluminous and wild, hung above her head, swirling, looking almost like silver strands of the softest material on the planet.
Sapphire found herself looking away from the stars and occasionally glancing towards Ruby. The taller girl looked stunning in the blue tone of the night. Thin streaks of navy-blue wrapped around Ruby's outline, gliding as carefully as a painting drawn by the most skilled artist. Her eyes gleamed even more than usual, every star in the night sky reflecting off of them like a mirror.
Ruby sat up, moving on top of Sapphire. She stroked her cheek, played with her hair, and even booped her nose. Meanwhile Sapphire was fiddling with the bottom of Ruby's shirt, rubbing her finger pads against the skin she felt under the shirt on Ruby's tummy. They chose to stay silent, not making a single sound. They really didn't need any words because this was enough. Ruby bent down and kissed Sapphire, pinning her hands down gently onto the deck. Sapphire kissed back, their motions starting slow and then increasing as the kiss deepened. Ruby worked her way to Sapphire's ear, nibbling and flicking her tongue against it gently. Sapphire shuttered, gasping softly. Ruby moved down, little by little, until she reached Sapphire's neck. She kissed her there, but neither went any further with their actions, keeping it this way. They loved the gentleness and care they felt when the other tried to make things passionate, almost feeling as if it were a language only they knew how to speak.
Sapphire got up, pulling Ruby close into a hug, holding on to her tightly."Don't ever leave." Sapphire whimpered, voice shaky.
"I never will."
