Sapphire woke up around 9:30 am, not too much time passing since Ruby woke up. She went to the bathroom of the motel room and took a quick shower before getting dressed and walking to the balcony, finding Ruby staring into nothingness.
"Hey, Ru~" She spoke in a sly tone.
Ruby looked at her and smiled.
"She has finally awoken!"
Sapphire giggled and wrapped her arms around Ruby's waist.
"So, where to next?"
Ruby was silent, then she got an idea.
"Let's go to a small town, smaller than Beach City, and just enjoy the view."
Sapphire nodded, and so they packed their things and tidied up their room as to not leave too much of a mess for the housekeepers to clean up. They got into the car and drove to a place known as Ocean Town.
"Wow, they really don't have creative names, do they?" Ruby joked.
Sapphire nudged her with her elbow, chuckling a bit. They found a nice motel to stay in, leaving their things and looking for a place to explore.
But they began to realize something as they walked down the streets: they were being stared at. Constantly. Maybe they were just wondering if the girls were new in town. Either way, they shrugged it off.
They found a nice restaurant in town, deciding to go eat what was now supposed to be lunch. They walked in, holding hands and giggling at snarky comments made by one another. The moment they walked in, the restaurant went silent. It was like one of those stereotypical moments in movies when the entire room stops and just stares at you.
Before Ruby could ask for a table, a girl and what they could assume was her boyfriend walked up to them and spoke.
"Uh, sweetie, are you two together?" The girl asked.
"Like, you do lesbo stuff together?" Said the boy in what one could only describe as the stupidest and most ignorant tone in existence.
"Yes." Sapphire spoke. "We are dating, so I guess we're together in that way."
The entire restaurant began to mutter and whisper, obviously in disapproval. Sapphire looked at Ruby, not saying a word but begging to leave this place. Ruby was too shocked at the actions of the restaurant to notice.
The girl chuckled and patted Sapphire on the back. "Oh come on, girl. You can do better than stooping so low. Just look at ya, you're a pretty one. Get yourself a man. A real man, not this..this dyke-"
Before she could even finish the word, Sapphire slapped the girl across the face, doing so with enough force to throw her down to the floor. She found herself shouting at her.
"Don't you dare call her that!"
Ruby stood there, eyes a bit watery because of the insults pointed towards her. She was shocked at the violent gesture Sapphire had just done, surprised that the girl was even strong enough to take down a person a foot taller than her.
The girl got up, trying to grab Sapphire by the hair, but missing because damn, Sapphire was fast.
"You little whore! I'll kill you!" The guy shouted, darting to catch Sapphire.
She dodged the guy as well, going around a booth and coming back around, grabbing Ruby's arm and dragging her out of the restaurant and back to their motel room. They were not followed. Once they got in, Sapphire locked the door and spoke to Ruby.
"Don't listen to them. You're wonderfu-"
She stopped. Ruby was sitting on the bed, tears streaming down her cheeks. Sapphire walked over to her and got on her knees. She took Ruby's hands gently and rubbed her thumbs over her knuckles.
"Why are you crying, Ru?" Sapphire asked.
Ruby sat silently, more tears falling from her face.
"Don't pay any attention to those idiots. They don't matter." She continued.
"Sapphire, they were right. I don't deserve you. You deserve better than this.." Ruby muttered.
Sapphire immediately answered back.
"I don't care who else I can be with, I only want to be with you. I don't want anyone else. I don't want some guy who I'll never feel attracted to because I'm a lesbian, and I sure as hell don't want another woman to love because I love you."
She gently wiped away Ruby's tears and kissed her cheek.
"Screw them. And screw this stupid place. We don't need this. You and I can be happy if we want to or not, and there isn't a damn thing they can do to stop us."
Ruby stared at Sapphire, standing up and helping Sapphire stand up as well.

"Then let's get married. Here."
